Following over a year of eager anticipation,
fans were delighted with the sweet news they had been longing for: the action star is indeed coming back for “The Beekeeper 2“. Not only does The Stath reprise his role as the lethal Adam Clay, but he will also collaborate with the ideal action film director, Timo Tjahjanto from “The Night Comes for Us” and “The Shadow Stray”. On social media, Timo has not only given the action-thriller sequel an apt title, but also hinted at exciting developments to come.
Through a post on Twitter, Timo Tjahjanto, set to replace David Ayer in the sequel, reacted to the news about The Beekeeper 2 with the caption, “To bee or not two bee?” Although this title isn’t officially confirmed for the sequel, given the playful nature of the first movie, is it truly possible that it could be named anything else?
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about “The Beekeeper,” released in January 2024. In this gritty thriller, I find myself embodying Adam Clay, a beekeeper with a dark past. After the untimely demise of a cherished friend due to a deceitful scheme, I abandon my peaceful beekeeping lifestyle to embark on a brutal quest for revenge.
But let’s not forget, Jason Statham isn’t just any ordinary beekeeper. Beneath that humble exterior lies the former operative of an enigmatic, clandestine organization known as “The Beekeepers.” As for the sequel, “The Beekeeper 2,” details are still under lock and key. However, I have no doubt it will unveil more secrets about this intriguing collective of assassins.
Timo Tjahjanto Teases ‘The Beekeeper 3’
As a passionate cinephile, the announcement of “The Beekeeper 2” has sent me and fellow action movie enthusiasts, as well as Jason Statham fans, into a whirlwind of excitement! Timo Tjahjanto’s recent hints about potential additional beekeeping adventures only amplify this buzz. On his X/Twitter feed, the talented director (known for films like “V/H/S/94”, “May the Devil Take You”, and “The Big 4”) has even suggested a third installment entitled “The Beekeeper 3: Enter the Hive.” Once again, he’s hit the nail on the head with another perfect title!
Despite the director’s humorous comment about his future projects, Timo Tjahjanto is rapidly establishing himself as a skilled action movie director. Following the release of his 2018 action thriller “The Night Comes for Us,” which featured “The Raid” cast members Iko Uwais and Joe Taslim, he impressed audiences once more with “The Shadow Strays” from last year, currently boasting a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, Tjahjanto has ventured into Hollywood, taking the helm for the upcoming sequel “Nobody 2,” where “Better Call Saul” actor Bob Odenkirk will reprise his role as Hutch Mansell, a character who appears to be a mild-mannered individual but is actually a government assassin in reality.
If The Beekeeper 2 lives up to its potential and results in The Beekeeper 3, could Jason Statham and Timo Tjahjanto establish themselves as an exceptional action movie director-actor duo? Or are we merely indulging in our genre fantasies since The Beekeeper 2’s release date is still undetermined? As for Nobody 2, it’s scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 15, 2025.
