Are you confident that you’ve grasped every aspect of the undead genre? Let me tell you, there’s still more to uncover! SYFY is shaking things up with their fresh take on television, the series Revival.
Beginning June 12, the new series featuring Melanie Scrofano from “Wynonna Earp” in the lead role, is based on the comic of the same name published by Image, written by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton. The story revolves around a small town named Wausau, Wisconsin that undergoes a terrifying transformation when the deceased inexplicably rise from their graves. However, these resurrected beings are not mindless zombies seeking to devour brains; instead, they behave and think very much like they did prior to their death, referred to as “Revivers”.

The cast and characters of SYFY’s Revival, explained
Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress

In the town where the narrative unfolds, there’s a lone mother who’s a cop, named Dana. She frequently feels the need to win over her dad, who serves as the local sheriff. On the brink of abandoning the town, she finds herself compelled to return due to the happenings of Revival Day, an event that breathes life back into her younger sister. This miraculous incident ignites Dana’s most crucial police investigation yet.

Romy Weltman as Martha “Em” Cypress

Dana’s little sibling, who’s been confined by an ongoing illness, is yet to discover her niche in a world that seems to have flipped on its head. At this point, we don’t know how Martha met her end, but she’s someone who brings people back to life, or what we call a Reviver.

David James Elliott as Wayne Cypress

For many years, Sheriff Wayne Cypress has been maintaining peace in Wausau. He’s determined to keep his family and town as ordinary as he can, but it proves challenging when the unusual occurrences of Revival Day turn the living population into a state of confusion and turmoil.

In places where an unanticipated revival occurs, you’ll find someone vehemently opposing it as the handiwork of the devil. Meet Blaine Abel, the son of a passionate preacher, who aims to exploit the apprehension surrounding Revival Day to establish a fervent group reminiscent of a cult, comprising only “devoted followers.
