- CKRD have announced their newest game peripheral with the Atom controller
- It’s a tiny, but allegedly fully-functional game controller that fits on a keychain
- It comes with a ten-hour battery, d-pad, face and shoulder-buttons
As a seasoned gamer with years of thumb-wearing battles under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of intrigue and skepticism upon hearing about CKRD’s Atom Controller.
As we approach the close of the day, there’s still some exciting news from Gamescom, or in this instance, related to it. Instead of a brand-new game, it’s about a new peripheral. CKRD has unveiled their latest controller named ‘Atom’, and as you might suspect, they aspire for it to be small yet powerful.
The compact CKRD Atom Controller, allegedly offering full functionality, fits not only within your hand but also on your keychain. It’s expected to boast a battery life exceeding ten hours, and comes equipped with a USB-C to USB-A adapter for easy charging. Control-wise, it offers a d-pad, four face buttons, and even four shoulder buttons, suggesting no compromises in that department.
Oh, and it also comes in eight unique colours to boot.
The power of games, in the palm of my hand
As a fan myself, I must confess there’s a strong urge to label the Atom as just a fancy gadget. After all, it’s a keychain controller! Yet, the irresistible appeal of a ten-hour battery life and an array of buttons that seems custom-made for my needs is hard to ignore. This becomes particularly enticing when you consider the struggle I often face while playing Symphony of the Night with touch-screen controls.
Even though it’s not until the Atom is distributed to the public towards the end of this month, we are yet to fully determine if CKRD has truly met the expectations surrounding the Atom.
