In the upcoming real-life adaptation of the movie, fans can grab a Toothless themed popcorn bucket as a keepsake. The movie will be released in cinemas on June 13th.
Regal Cinemas shared a sneak peek at their new How to Train Your Dragon Toothless-themed popcorn bucket on (what was previously) Twitter, calling it “the most adorable collectible.” They wrote, “He’s faithful. He’s iconic. He holds your popcorn. Say hello to the Toothless popcorn holder you didn’t know you were missing,”
This container boasts a charming stylized character design from the series, with its mouth conveniently opening up to store popcorn.
The upcoming live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” is a modern adaptation of the 2010 animated movie. In this new take, the character playing the clumsy son of Chief Stoick the Vast will be introduced. Gerard Butler will once again portray Hiccup’s father, a role he initially brought to life in the original animated series.
In a groundbreaking move, the latest addition to this popular series represents DreamWorks’ initial foray into live-action filmmaking and their maiden attempt at remaking a production. As early as 2023, the live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” was unveiled, with Dean DeBlois set to reprise his roles as writer, director, and producer, following his work on the animated movies. The DreamWorks franchise has consistently been a hit, with all three films receiving nominations for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Collectively, these films have grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide, cementing its place among the most successful animation franchises ever created.
Last month, on April 2, How to Train Your Dragon had its premiere at CinemaCon. Simultaneously, it was announced that a sequel is underway, with the second film being adapted into a live-action version. This live-action remake is now in production and slated for release on June 11, 2027.
The How to Train Your Dragon Remake “Improves” Upon Animated Original
As stated by DeBlois, the upcoming “How to Train Your Dragon” movie is expected to be an improvement on the original, with the creator expressing that while he’s immensely proud of the first film, there are aspects that could have been executed more effectively. However, it’s worth noting that his pride in the animated film remains undiminished.
DeBlois added that there was an opportunity to delve further into the characters, enhancing the overall experience and making the action sequences and flight scenes more intense and immersive. He also aimed to deepen the character relationships. His goal was to create an experience that resonated with the familiarity and nostalgia of the original film, but with added depth. There were numerous paths they could have taken, but this one felt most natural to him because he is extremely fond of the animated movie.
On June 13th, the movie How to Train Your Dragon will premiere in cinemas, and you can grab a Toothless-themed popcorn bucket at Regal Theaters!
