The Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer’s Product Placement May Have Gone Over Your Head

The Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer's Product Placement May Have Gone Over Your Head

As a long-time gamer and avid moviegoer, I have seen my fair share of product placements in films and videos games. However, none have been as blatant and fun as the ones in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” The latest trailers for this highly anticipated film have been filled with hidden gems and Easter eggs, one of which is the sneaky product placement of Ryan Reynolds’ own Aviation Gin.

The release of “Deadpool & Wolverine” is drawing nearer, and in excitement for its imminent debut, a series of new trailers have been unveiled. These previews are filled to the brim with Easter eggs and concealed treasures, making it no shock that the most recent one includes a cleverly disguised product placement. For instance, keep an eye out for a subtle brand appearance in the background.

Pay attention as Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), at the 34-second mark in the trailer below, takes a sip from a bottle labeled “Aviation Gin” for gargling and rinsing his mouth. This brief moment showcases Ryan Reynolds’ personal venture – the gin brand he owns. Reynolds has previously incorporated this product into other films and productions, such as “Free Guy” and “Red Notice,” making this a subtle nod to his side business that may be overlooked by some viewers.

In the scene just before, as Deadpool (Reynolds) and Wolverine make a visit to Blind Al’s apartment, which is played by Leslie Uggams, you may notice a small El Guero Taqueria food truck visible at the bottom of the screen. This prop is actually a Deadpool toy that was available for purchase as early as 2013. The product placements in the teasers for “Deadpool & Wolverine” don’t stop there, though.

It looks like Deadpool & Wolverine will have some more product placement

It seems that there will be at least one more instance of product placement involving alcohol in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” In an earlier trailer, Deadpool and Wolverine are shown arguing while holding a bottle of what looks like Stalk Barrel Blue Blend Canadian Whiskey; the label is distinctly visible during their conversation. The partnership between corporations doesn’t end there – Marvel Studios released a promotional video for the movie featuring Heinz Ketchup and Mustard, with Ryan Reynolds providing humorous commentary over it.

In simpler terms, there’s a strong possibility that more product placements will be included in the movie as it nears completion in late July. The film has already generated excitement with numerous unexpected appearances, such as the fight scene with Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) and rumored cameo by Lady Deadpool, who some believe could be portrayed by Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively. Including product placements is just part of the unexpected elements in this production.

Soon, fans will discover the extent of promotional efforts – ranging from subtle to grandiose – they will encounter once “Deadpool & Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26.
