The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – The Ghost Ship of Anvil Quest Walkthrough

In the bustling city of Anvil lies a selection of distinctive tasks within the game “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered”. One such task, known as “The Ghost Ship of Anvil”, could be particularly beneficial to tackle early. This tutorial will guide you on how to locate The Ghost Ship of Anvil and what prizes await upon its completion.

In the southwest corner of Cyrodiil, nestled just west of Kvatch in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you’ll find the town of Anvil. From there, make your way to the Anvil Docks by exiting through the dock gate. Upon reaching the docks, you’ll spot a tall Altmer named Varulae standing on the deck of a massive ship called The Serpent’s Wake. She’s in quite a state because her crystal ball has gone missing, apparently haunted by ghosts that have taken over the ship. These spirits had previously replaced the crew, who were mysteriously slain en route from the Summerset Isle.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – How to Complete The Ghost Ship of Anvil Quest

To initiate The Ghost Ship of Anvil in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, chat with Varulae on The Serpent’s Wake to listen to her tale. She will request you to venture into the cargo hold to retrieve her crystal ball. If you consent, she will provide a key for you to enter the ship from the deck. It’s crucial to mention that inside the ship, you’ll encounter five Spectral Sailors who are resistant to standard physical weapons. However, these ghost-like adversaries can be effectively vanquished using ranged magic spells and enchanted weapons like the Long Sword of Flames, making it relatively straightforward. When a ghost is defeated, it leaves behind a Steel Cutlass, another weapon suitable for battling against them.

Varulae’s Crystal Ball is tucked away inside a treasure chest, which can be found in the cargo area. This quest is quite simple to complete. However, you’ll need to navigate through two trap doors first. Before you reach the cargo area, don’t forget to inspect the Dead Captain’s corpse in the room on the ground floor. There, you’ll find the Serpent’s Wake Captain’s Key, which is essential for opening the Captain’s Chest. This chest holds a variety of loot, some of which may be randomly generated.

Head back up to the upper deck and converse with Varulae to hand over the crystal ball and finish The Ghost Ship of Anvil. As a token of gratitude, Varulae will bestow upon you Redwave, an enchanted steel cutlass. This weapon not only deals significant damage in attacks, but also drains 15 health points for 6 seconds when used, making it quite powerful early on in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Given its magical properties, Redwave is particularly effective against other spectral adversaries you may encounter later.

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just gotten my hands on the refreshed version of a classic gem – The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered! Now, it’s playable on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC through Steam. Can’t wait to immerse myself in the world once more!
