A unique collaboration is taking place between JW Marriott and Flamingo Estate, offering a special range of items and experiences at certain hotels globally. This alliance transcends typical amenities like shower gels and bathroom creams. Instead, it delves into aromas, sounds, and flavors to create an immersive guest experience.

Upon arrival at JW Marriott’s premier properties, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the fragrance of their garden-infused Expansion scent reminiscent of Southern California hillside lifestyle, listen to melodies from one of their nature-inspired playlists, and savor dishes enhanced with celebrity-loved honey sourced locally.

Bruce Rohr, who serves as Vice President and Global Brand Leader for JW Marriott, shares that the hotel company deliberately searched for a “master of extraordinary delights.

He mentions that we were discussing methods to connect more deeply with our visitors in a significant manner. The thought occurred to us to focus on stimulating their senses. “We often emphasize the significance of individuals’ overall health, how they value things distinctly and this concept of traveling thoughtfully versus just being a traveler,” he explains.

One member from Rohr’s team knew someone who was deeply interested in Flamingo Estate, famous for its tomato-scented products like “status soap” and candles. They recommended visiting this brand, as it, similar to ours, prioritizes promoting overall wellness by fostering a strong bond with nature.

As a devotee, I find myself deeply moved by the fact that J. Willard Marriott, our esteemed founder, sought solace in nature when he needed a respite. With this insight, we’re striving to infuse the essence of wellness into your journey with us. How might we seamlessly integrate nature into your experience?

Guided by mindfulness and a desire to honor Marriott’s connection with nature, our hotel brand unveiled the JW Garden – a verdant haven nestled within our property. Here, guests can forge a bond with nature as herbs and produce flourish, contributing to an enriched culinary adventure.

Furthermore, we’re taking strides to address environmental well-being through programs that reduce food waste and champion sustainable tablescapes. These initiatives underscore our commitment to preserving the very essence of nature for future generations.

“The love of nature drew us to Flamingo Estate,” says Rohr.

In the heart of Los Angeles, nestled between Eagle Rock and Highland Park, lies a 1940s pink Spanish-style mansion I’ve grown quite fond of. Once owned by Richard Christiansen, it now stands as a symbol of creativity and resilience. During the pandemic, this estate, affectionately known as Flamingo Estate, transformed into a vibrant marketplace.

The beekeeper-turned-creative-director-turned-farmer started selling farm baskets filled with fresh produce from our own land. Over time, this humble beginning bloomed into a vast collection of more than 150 unique products, including Roma Heirloom Tomato Dish Soap and Winter Harvest Persimmon Vinegar.

Today, we collaborate with over 110 regenerative farmers and growers who share our passion for cultivating not just food, but pleasure from the garden. Each of these dedicated individuals contributes to our mission of creating a sustainable, joyful connection between people and their food.

As a gaming enthusiast, I found myself drawn to the charm of Flamingo Estate like a moth to a flame. My encounter with the hotelier and Christiansen was more than just a casual meeting; it felt like pieces of a puzzle falling into place. Our shared vision sparked an intellectual exchange that quickly evolved into a partnership. Together, we embarked on a journey to design an immersive gaming experience, one that would ignite the imagination in the most captivating way possible.

As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but express my awe over their fruitful collaborations with renowned personalities. It truly piques my interest, wondering, for instance, ‘What on earth could be compelling LeBron James to venture into honey production?’

Visitors might wonder if JW Marriott produces honey themselves. To clarify, they do have their own Flamingo Estate California wildflower honey, which is co-branded and comes with adaptogenic holy basil and bergamot to boost wellness and resistance to stress. This special honey can be purchased from curatedbyjw.com for $35. The chefs at each JW Marriott property use this nectar to enrich their cocktails, mocktails, and various dishes on the menu. For instance, the Flamingo Daiquiri and Busy Little Bees cocktail have been created using this honey at Vincent’s bar in JW Marriott Dallas Arts District and Montage restaurant respectively.

Christiansen remarks about their collaboration, “We share a strong conviction in genuine hospitality, and it’s the essence of our work. We strive to make people feel cherished and valued.” This is most effectively achieved by engaging with elements that link us to our surroundings. “These connections are expressed through all our senses, particularly taste, touch, and smell.

This assortment showcases the shared fragrance “Expansion,” an aroma infused with herbal tones of verdant greenery, damp soil, and delicate white lotus blossoms, along with subtle hints of luxurious woods, rosemary, and Holy Basil – a plant often employed in Ayurvedic medicine for relaxation and recovery. The aim is to whisk you away to the serenity of nature, offering an instant dose of rejuvenation and mindfulness.

Rohr suggests broadening your perspectives and horizons as you breathe in the fragrance,” he states. This aroma can be found not just floating through the lobbies of JW Marriott hotels, but also in the form of an eight-ounce hand-poured candle, reed diffuser, room spray, and scent sticks under the Curated by JW collection.

Ever since we began our journey, one of my dreams has been to curate a captivating playlist that echoes the serenity of nature, and fortunately, the brilliant minds at Flamingo Estate agreed,” I express. Consequently, visitors will be immersed in four distinct playlists (Aurora – soothing jazz with a meditative vibe; Sun – upbeat rhythms and inspiring sounds; Dusk – a dreamy fusion of gentle tunes; Moon – melodious compositions for relaxation) during their stay, starting from the lobby and weaving seamlessly into their experience. These playlists are accessible on the Flamingo Estate’s Spotify channel as well, allowing guests to continue enjoying the music even after they leave.

I’m thrilled to share that the unique Flamingo Estate collaboration with JW Marriott is now part of the guest experience at numerous properties across their impressive 120-hotel network, spanning over 40 countries and territories worldwide! This exclusive partnership can be enjoyed at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District, JW Marriott Hotel Mexico City Polanco, and JW Marriott Bengaluru Prestige Golfshire Resort & Spa, where you can also purchase this amazing experience.

Rohr shares that the brand has been thriving with new establishments in Saigon, Nairobi, and its inaugural lodge in Kenya’s Masai Mara. He projects the expansion of 50 more hotels globally (across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) by 2030. The JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, is set to debut in autumn 2025, offering 200 guestrooms and suites as well as a Croissant Bar.
