SPOILERS are ahead for Love Is Blind Season 8, which is now streaming with a Netflix subscription.
Although there’s an increasing number of dating shows for the LGBTQ+ community on streaming platforms, Netflix’s top reality show hasn’t expanded its format to include this group yet, and the Love Is Blind structure presents challenges. However, Madison Errichiello from Season 8 revealed after the reunion that members of the queer community were indeed part of the female side in the pods.
In the recently aired season of the Netflix series, Brittany’s bisexuality was briefly revealed to Devin in the pods before their split, but it seems the show didn’t delve deeply into the fact that Madison had openly identified as bisexual within the pods as well. Although we are aware of her post-Season 8 relationship with Alex, this amusing anecdote about Madison and another girl in the pods was previously unknown to us, as she herself recounted.
To clarify, I had previously encountered one of the females in the story. She didn’t appear much throughout the narrative. In fact, she only stayed for a single day before departing, which is great since she seemed quite disinterested. However, it’s amusing because when I arrived at the airport, we were all essentially meeting each other for the first time. And wouldn’t you know it? I had matched with that girl on Hinge around a year ago.
This week, Madison appeared on the “Off The Vine With Kaitlyn Bristowe” podcast. During the conversation, the “Love Is Blind” star disclosed an unexpected occurrence when she met the girls for Season 8’s pods. It turned out that one of the less prominent contestants from the show was actually a previous match of hers on the dating app Hinge. As she went on:
Initially, I felt a bit jittery, as if an unexpected apprehension took hold of me, and I exclaimed ‘Ah!’ I found myself questioning whether to speak up or not. Eventually, I decided to say something because I wasn’t sure about her comfort level, so I also didn’t want to make any on-camera remarks that might have made her uncomfortable. So, I brought up the topic the next day during breakfast by asking, ‘Hey, weren’t we a match on Hinge?’ To which she responded enthusiastically, ‘Oh my god, yes! That’s where I recognize you from.’
At another location, this tale was also verified during a gathering for MPR News. Casandra Barron shared the identical account. Here’s how Madison further elaborated on the outcome of the near-miss encounter:

This story was also substantiated at another place, during an event with MPR News. Casandra Barron gave the same narrative. Here’s how Madison explained what happened after the close call:

The story was confirmed in another setting at a MPR News event, with Casandra Barron recounting the same tale. This is how Madison detailed what transpired following the near-miss encounter:
Casandra is now one of my closest friends. It’s amusing to reflect on our past, as I once thought to myself, “If things don’t work out between us…” However, we’ve become friends regardless, and it seems that during her time in the pods, she may have felt a longing for someone. She had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with a certain guy, so perhaps when she arrived at the pods, she thought, “I miss him.
Although Madison and Casandra didn’t end up romantically involved after reconnecting on Love Is Blind, Madison, one of the show’s cast members, openly discussed her bisexuality during the series, but these discussions were edited out for the final season. In a subsequent MPR interview, another cast member, Vanessa Boreland, expressed that while there was representation of queer individuals among the participants, she found it regrettable that this aspect wasn’t more prominently featured in the season.
Reflecting on Season 8, I was hopeful it would be different, but it turned out to be as chaotic as Season 7, with each storyline unfolding in unexpected ways. Oh well, here’s hoping for a better story arc next time around, given that the show has been renewed for Seasons 9 and 10. It’s unfortunate that the show doesn’t seem to cater much to LGBTQ+ relationships, which could have provided more diverse romantic options for some of our queer characters.
