The Hidden Ones is a martial arts-themed new release from Tencent’s Morefun Studios, coming 2025

  • Morefun Studios’ Hitori no Shita is not dead!
  • It’s back, under the new title The Hidden Ones
  • Featuring 3D brawling, parkour and more, it’s set to release in 2025

As a long-time fan of 3D brawlers and martial arts action games, I can’t contain my excitement for The Hidden Ones! It’s been a rollercoaster journey with the game, formerly known as Hitori no Shita: The Outcast, but now reborn as The Hidden Ones. The new title, while a bit mysterious, seems fitting for this action-packed adventure.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit it’s been quite some time since we’ve received updates about Morefun Studios’ action-packed 3D brawler, The Outcast (formerly known as Hitori no Shita). However, the wait seems to be worth it! We’re now swimming in news tidbits. First off, the title has been simplified to The Hidden Ones, and here’s the best part – we finally have a concrete release date set for 2025! To top it all off, there will even be a pre-alpha test in January. Can’t wait!

In contemporary China, the story unfolds around a young martial artist named Zhang Chulan. He finds out that the skills his grandfather taught him are surprisingly valuable within the martial arts community and they won’t accept his indifference.

Check out the recently released gameplay trailer, available for viewing below, which showcases some truly remarkable elements, including the secondary character, Wang Ye. This character exhibits agility as he traverses buildings using parkour techniques, while skillfully avoiding projectiles. Moreover, his movements bear a resemblance to traditional 3D martial arts, involving dodging, energy-based attacks, and hand-to-hand combat – all of which are reminiscent of what we’ve come to expect.

Hidden no longer

Uncovering details about The Hidden Ones has been quite a challenge, given their series could go by any of three (or even four) distinct names. Yet, based on first impressions, this seems set to deliver an impressive launch from Morefun. What particularly catches my eye is the grittier, darker visual style that, though not entirely realistic, presents a somewhat earthier and rugged image compared to other 3D action role-playing games in the market.

Nevertheless, The Hidden Ones’ success may hinge on its ability to captivate audiences who might be new to the original source.
