On Wednesday evening, The Hollywood Reporter collaborated with GLAAD for the “Celebration of Pride ’25” event, which attracted numerous attendees representing the LGBTQ community and their supporters in West Hollywood.
Last night, I was part of an incredible gathering, hosted by Paramount+ FYC at Sunset EDITION. It was a night filled with dancing, chatting, and most significantly, unity – a point underscored by Anthony Allen Ramos from GLAAD. He stressed that now more than ever, it’s crucial to be open, proud, and vocal about who we are. Before the bustling crowd assembled at this event, which also marked GLAAD’s 40th anniversary celebration, he shared these thoughts with THR.
As we unite during Pride celebrations, let’s show the world that we are not different, but rather ordinary people with extraordinary talents. We excel in various fields, particularly in entertainment and beyond, demonstrating our creativity. It’s regrettable that we face new hurdles, yet if we reflect on history, we have overcome such obstacles before. I hope that this Pride season will inspire everyone to believe that we can triumph once more.
The occasion showcased numerous prominent figures, including the cast of Overcompensating on Amazon Prime Video, who made an appearance at THR’s photo studio and red carpet. Many members of the cast discussed their celebrations for pride this year. Benito Skinner, creator and star of the series, spoke with THR on the red carpet about his experiences. “I attend various events, I go with the flow, and I make an effort to watch as much LGBTQ+ content as I can,” he said. “Additionally, I indulge myself. I think, ‘It’s Pride, I deserve a new shirt,'” he humorously added, explaining “not in that way.
Skinner’s frequent collaborator and longtime comedy companion, Mary Beth Barone, offered a straightforward response. “I plan on being intimate with women,” she stated. “I believe this is the most suitable approach for me.

A recurring topic during the evening, as emphasized by speeches from THR’s co-editor-in-chief Maer Roshan and GLAAD’s Zeke Smith, as well as remarks from attendees, was the significance of acknowledging Pride this particular year.
We’re surrounded by unique talent and friends who stand with our community,” said Harvey Guillén from ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, speaking at the event to THR. “Now more than ever, the ability to proudly be ourselves is a powerful tool.” He further explained, “Our authenticity, combined with our allies, that’s what empowers us. Essentially, who we are serves as our power source.
As a supporter myself, I resonate deeply with Guillén’s thoughts. I stand tall as an ally, and I can confidently say that I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible influence of the LGBTQIA community, and particularly the Black LGBTQIA community. They have played an integral role in my journey.
Currently, there’s a lot of confusion surrounding leadership and the LGBTQ+ community. For me, pride symbolizes self-reliance and motivation. We mustn’t let obstacles hinder our creativity; instead, we should keep pushing forward, even when faced with rejection. I wish everyone in our community continues to progress.
Among the attendees were Samantha Hanratty from Yellowjackets, Raven-Symoné, Adam DiMarco known for Overcompensating, Scott Hoying of Pentatonix, ex-SNL cast member Sasheer Zamata, Wilson Cruz, and Lance Bass.
