The Last of Us Season 2: More Moments from the Game Appear in Latest Trailer

Over a year has passed since the release of The Last of Us, which received widespread acclaim, and enthusiasts are now anxiously anticipating the arrival of its highly-anticipated second season.

In April, you’ll be able to stream The Last of Us Part II on various platforms, and HBO has recently unveiled a fresh trailer showcasing additional scenes involving Ellie, Joel, and other characters from the game’s expanded cast.

New Trailer for The Last of Us Season 2

Reports surfaced last week about an upcoming trailer, and HBO certainly delivered with this sneak peek at Season 2. Take a look here:

The teaser provides additional details and solidifies the launch date for Season 2, set for April 13.

While fans can anticipate the infected returning in Season 2, they should also prepare for the appearance of other non-infected antagonists. A sneak peek at the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a group Abby is connected to, and their adversaries, the Seraphites/Scars, are hinted in the trailer. The WLF has conflicts with the Seraphites, a cult that shuns technology and uses unique whistles for long-distance communication.

It’s interesting to note that Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) seems absent from the latest trailer, while there appears to be a greater focus on Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey).

More Scenes from the Game

One upcoming scene for the season involves a flashback to several years after the events of the first season, featuring Ellie and Joel. In this scene, Joel takes Ellie on an excursion to a deserted museum, where they discover some fascinating artifacts. It’s unclear how closely the museum level from the game will be reflected in the show, but the moment when they encounter the space capsule is undeniably one of the most moving moments in the entire series.

Additionally, there’s a scene depicting the members of the Seraphite cult performing a ritualistic act. In this ritual, they suspend individuals before proceeding to extract their internal organs.

It appears that the extent to which the Seraphites will feature in the game is uncertain, however, it seems that none of the main characters associated with that faction are expected to appear in this upcoming season.

Original Scenes for the Series

Similar to the initial installment, Season 2 appears set to present fresh sequences. Given that Jackson hasn’t been under siege nor faced an attack by the infected, the series has incorporated such events to illustrate the strength and preparedness of the community.

It’s been hinted that Eugene (Joe Pantoliano), who met his end by the beginning of Part II, will have his backstory delved into further, much like Bill and Frank did in the initial season. Fans are already familiar with Eugene’s pastimes involving technology and marijuana, but his history as a Firefly and his questionable activities with Tommy were the reasons they ultimately decided to part ways.

Hopefully, he gets a backstory that packs the same emotional punch as Bill and Frank’s episode.

Watch out for The Last of Us Season 2 when it premieres on Max on April 13.
