To mark the 200th year of The Macallan, they’re introducing one of their priciest whiskies ever – the TIME:SPACE, valued at approximately $190,000 USD. This exquisite Scotch whisky is housed in a beautifully crafted dual chamber bottle.
Since 1940, one chamber houses whisky that was aged for more than eight decades before being bottled this year. It offers flavors reminiscent of charred pineapple, baked peaches, candied ginger, aniseed, blackberry preserves, woodsmoke, resin, and caramelized sugar.
In the other chamber is a 2018 whisky, representing the future of the distillery, with notes of golden sultanas, baked apples, lemon and lime. Both were matured over the years in sherry-seasoned oak casks.
The vessel has two red compartments for the whiskies: an outer ring-shaped decanter that holds the 1940, and an inner chamber which can be removed, containing the 2018. A sculpture made of oak encircles these chambers, mimicking the spiky defense found in nature.
