As a die-hard fan who’s been through countless binge-watching sessions and lost count of the hours spent in virtual worlds, this news about The Night Agent’s third season renewal has me absolutely thrilled! I mean, who wouldn’t be? With its gripping plotlines, top-notch production quality, and a stellar cast that includes Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan, it’s no wonder Netflix can’t resist keeping this gem on their roster.
Netflix will keep The Night Agent on call beyond its forthcoming second season.
The entertainment platform, Netflix, has reaffirmed the continuation of “The Night Agent” for a third installment, which is being launched ahead of season two’s debut. As of now, Netflix hasn’t fixed a precise date for its broadcast, but they have confirmed that it will air in winter 2025. This release schedule is slightly delayed compared to the earlier prediction made by Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarando during an earnings call this year.
I’m thrilled to share that we’ll kick off the filming for season three towards the end of this year, right in the heart of Istanbul. Once we wrap up there, we’ll move on to New York City after the new year continues our production journey!
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and brainchild of Shawn Ryan, The Night Agent has been a major success on Netflix over the past year. The show’s first season stands at number seven in Netflix’s all-time rankings for English-speaking series (based on viewership measured for thirteen weeks following its debut). Additionally, it was the second most-watched original streaming series in the United States during 2023, as per Nielsen’s annual totals of overall viewing duration.
The first season of the television show, derived from a book by Matthew Quirk, focuses on Peter Sutherland, a minor FBI agent who usually works in the White House basement and answers an unresponsive phone. Yet, one evening, it does ring, leading him into a massive conspiracy that involves safeguarding tech CEO, Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), whose actions are linked to the intrigue.
In the second season, Peter gets an opportunity to join the Night Agency due to his past deeds. However, this clandestine group known as Night Action thrusts him into a realm where peril is omnipresent and reliability is scarce.
Ryan, who was the showrunner for both SWAT and The Shield, is now serving as the executive producer for The Night Agent in its second season alongside Marney Hochman, Paul Bernard, Munis Rashid, Guy Ferland, Seth Gordon from Exhibit A Films, Julia Gunn, and a team from Project X Entertainment which includes David Beaubaire, Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, and James Vanderbilt.
