Franklin, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, is not your average child because he’s actually the son of Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm. From an early age, he has demonstrated extraordinary abilities such as telepathy and telekinesis, but these are just a few examples. He possesses the power to manipulate reality itself, enabling him to create new beings, planets, and even entire dimensions. In the comics, he’s one of the select few who have defeated Galactus, suggesting that “First Steps” might involve Franklin playing a significant part in helping the team save Earth from the impending threat posed by this super-villain. However, it remains to be seen how substantial Franklin’s role will be in the movie, as the details are yet to be fully revealed.
Apart from his first major film appearance, there remains uncertainty about his role in the upcoming movies “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” For now, though, it’s best to focus on the Marvel Cinematic Universe one stage at a time.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps should be an MCU hit
In a universe separate from where the Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline has unfolded so far, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set. On this Earth, the beloved heroes – Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn as Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing) – make up the Fantastic Four. However, they face a dire warning from the Silver Surfer, portrayed by Julia Garner, that their planet has been designated for destruction by Galactus, who is approaching to consume everything they hold dear.
Title Performance and Importance of “Fantastic Four” in the Upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe:
The initial predictions suggest that “First Steps” will undoubtedly shine at the box office, with a potential domestic earnings of $125 to $155 million within its opening week.
Given that the other 2025 MCU films have underperformed, it’s crucial for “Fantastic Four” to be successful. For instance, “Captain America: Brave New World” raked in an impressive $415 million worldwide, while “Thunderbolts*” earned a comparatively lower $381 million. Since the Fantastic Four are more recognized than the Thunderbolts, it’s plausible that more audiences will be eager to watch them.
Regardless of its box office performance, the Fantastic Four is set to endure, as the post-credits scene of “Thunderbolts*” has already shown their ship entering the main MCU universe, implying a permanent presence for the team.
Instead of jumping realities, did the Fantastic Four travel between dimensions due to Galactus destroying their world? Have they foreseen Doctor Doom’s (Robert Downey Jr.) arrival and are seeking help to overpower him? The only way to find out is by watching “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” when it releases in theaters on July 25.
