The Ideal Grade: A Tale Begins as Kyle’s (Evans) dream college seems uncertain due to his poor performance on the SAT exam. He joins forces with his closest friend Matthy (Greenberg) to devise a strategy. They then seek help from Francesca, the daughter of the building owner (Johansson), to break in and retrieve the tests.

As the group unites, it expands to include Roy, a laid-back character often associated with marijuana, Desmond, an enthusiastic basketball hopeful, and Anna, a student hailing from Ivy League institutions. Now, this sextet has concocted a scheme to infiltrate and pilfer the test scores, aiming to secure their desired colleges.

Verdict on The Perfect Score

As a cinephile, I’d say that “The Perfect Score” is a hilarious caper film revolving around six intellectually gifted yet academically frustrated high school students. In a bid to secure their dream college admissions, they concoct an audacious plan to swipe the coveted SAT answers. This daring heist, brimming with tension and wit, could potentially alter their destinies. Yet, the stakes are so high that going against the educational establishment feels like a thrilling rebellion.

This film vibrantly reimagines the heist genre for a younger audience, focusing on the trials faced by high school students as they navigate a particular college’s competitive environment. It critiques the educational system by illustrating how standardized testing unfairly categorizes individuals, rather than accommodating various learning styles. On a different note, the story also features a group of typical high school students bonding in a manner reminiscent of “The Breakfast Club.

The characters, particularly Chris Evans and Scarlet Johansson (who would later become Avengers), are what make this production stand out. It accurately portrays the time period and conveys a message about the challenges that high school students often encounter.

Final ThoughtsThe Perfect Score is an enjoyable high school heist comedy.
