- The PXN P5 is the latest pitch a company has made for a universal controller
- It boasts all manner of high-tech gubbins and has compatibility with everything from consoles to cars
- But will it be what people need, or want?
Regarding game controllers, it seems that mobile devices aren’t receiving as much focus as they should. Given its significance as a major gaming platform, it’s surprising how little innovation we’ve seen beyond adaptable snap-on controllers. Particularly in cross-compatibility, which appears to be limited to Bluetooth connections or none at all. However, the makers of the PXN P5 controller argue that this is not the case for their device.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve come across the P5, a versatile controller that doesn’t just cater to consoles or PCs, but extends its compatibility to a variety of platforms such as the Nintendo Switch, in-car systems, and even mobile devices! It’s packed with features like Dual Hall-effect magnetic joysticks (essentially, these are advanced joysticks that provide precise control), and it offers adaptable triggers that can be fine-tuned to suit my preferred gaming style.
The device known as the P5 can be purchased through PXN and Amazon at a retail cost of £29.99. This versatile gadget is designed to work seamlessly with various platforms such as PCs, Macs, iOS devices, Android phones, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Android TV, and Tesla systems.
Universality
On our side, PXN isn’t necessarily a well-established brand, but that doesn’t mean their products aren’t top-notch. However, the market for controllers that work across mobile devices can be challenging, and I personally feel that mobile-only controllers might not offer as much as I would prefer.
Simultaneously, I won’t whine about having more choices. On the contrary, the thing that seems puzzling to me about this device is its compatibility with Tesla, which I wouldn’t have expected. I suppose there must be a niche group of dedicated gamers who find it appealing, right?
While you’re exploring your newfound passion for gaming, it might be worth considering live streaming as a natural progression. If that’s the case, take a look at our review of the Wavo POD Streamer Set – see what we had to say about this straightforward setup kit!
