‘The Rings of Power’s Charlie Vickers Says Show is Nearing Sauron’s “Peak”

As a seasoned fan of Middle Earth, having traversed the treacherous lands of Mordor countless times in my imagination, I eagerly await the unfolding saga of Sauron in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. With Charlie Vickers hinting at Sauron reaching his peak power in Season 3, it seems we might be on the precipice of witnessing the full terror of the Dark Lord.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel the excitement brewing among us as we bid farewell to Season 2 of Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”. We’re already eagerly looking forward to the thrilling adventures that Season 3 promises. Adding fuel to our anticipation is none other than Charlie Vickers, portraying the enigmatic Dark Lord Sauron, who offers tantalizing insights into what Sauron’s ultimate plan might unfold in this epic series.

In the first two seasons of “The Rings of Power”, which is loosely based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s appendices for “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Sauron’s influence over Middle Earth has grown stronger. During Season 2, Sauron tricked the skilled elven blacksmith Celebrimbor into crafting the nine magic rings destined for men. Furthermore, signs suggest that Sauron played a role in the creation of the seven dwarf rings, as seen in the storylines involving Durin III and his father. The latter, under the influence of his ring, released a beloved Tolkien creature, the Balrog, into the world. As reported by Screen Rant, Charlie Vickers mentioned that Sauron’s victories will likely bolster his determination to deceive in Season 3 of “The Rings of Power”.

I believe he’ll become increasingly confident as he nears his maximum strength. If you examine his power graphically, he’s moving closer and closer to reaching his highest point of power. It’s likely we’ll see a version or form of Sauron that resembles the fearsome Sauron the Cruel, exhibiting his greatest might externally, at least in appearance.

Morfydd Clark, portraying the Elven commander Galadriel, noted that Sauron “has a strong dislike for limits, so he’s likely to keep testing and transgressing them.

The Perilous Future of Middle Earth in ‘The Rings of Power’

Charlie Vickers mentioned potential future occurrences, specifically hinting at Sauron’s ongoing deception as he aims to control all of Middle Earth. Notably, he shared that in “The Rings of Power,” Sauron aligns his malevolent thoughts with Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle), who seized the Númenorian throne from Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) in the second season. In this series, Middle Earth encompasses the island realm of men, Númenor.

Vickers explained to Screen Rant, ‘There’s a lot of psychological aspects involved there,’ particularly regarding Sauron and Pharazôn. However, delving into those details might be saved for a later stage in our series. For now, it seems that Sauron is pursuing a vendetta against the elves.

In the final season of The Rings of Power, it appears that Sauron is undoubtedly succeeding in his longstanding feud against the Elves. By deceiving Celebrimbor, he ultimately caused the downfall of Eregion, which was destroyed by Adar (played by Sam Hazeldine) and his orc forces.

As a fervent admirer, I’m eagerly anticipating Season 3 of Middle Earth’s epic tale, “The Rings of Power”. Although Elrond (Robert Aramayo) temporarily loses Galadriel’s ring, Nenya, to Adar, a pact is forged between them, ensuring the ring’s return. Despite a harrowing confrontation with Sauron that nearly claims her life, Galadriel is miraculously healed by Elrond using Nenya. In a remarkable turn of events, the elven leaders – Galadriel, Elrond, and High King Gil-galad – unite the survivors from Eregion, establishing a new sanctuary for elves that will eventually evolve into the mighty elvish stronghold of Rivendell.

For fans familiar with Tolkien’s works, they are aware of Númenor’s final destiny. Nevertheless, The Rings of Power has made some creative adjustments in the first two seasons. As a result, viewers can expect to stay engaged during Season 3 and beyond, as these alterations may continue to keep fans guessing.
