The actor from “The Rookie: Feds” has hinted at a potential return for his character in the original series “The Rokei,” or future spin-offs. The popularity of “The Rookie” on ABC resulted in the creation of the spinoff “The Rookie: Feds,” which premiered in September 2022, focusing on new FBI recruits. This show was introduced through a special episode within “The Rookie.” Despite showing initial promise, “The Rookie: Feds” was canceled by ABC after only one season. However, one of the actors from the canceled spinoff has expressed optimism about rejoining the franchise.
In an interview with ScreenRant, actor Deniz Akdeniz – known for his role as Mark Atlas in five episodes of The Rookie: Feds – expressed a desire to reappear in the series, potentially through a brief appearance called a cameo. Akdeniz also hinted at potential chances for his character’s return, especially considering the possibility of another spinoff show being developed. Read Akdeniz’s thoughts on the matter below.
ScreenRant: The world of The Rookie continues to thrive, as another spin-off is being planned. Would you perhaps consider appearing for a brief role?
Deniz Akdeniz affirmed that everyone he collaborated with on The Rookie: Feds was delightful, and the series offers a deep, expansive universe. If there’s an opportunity to reintroduce his character, given that the FBI exists within this world, we might see it happen.
What This Means For The Future Of The Rookie
The Franchise Is As Strong As Ever & There Are Plenty Of Opportunities For Akdeniz To Return
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the renewal of season 8 for “The Rookie” and the development of a second spinoff series! This means there might be more chances for characters from the spinoffs to reappear in the franchise. Mark Atlas, played by Afton Williamson (Akdeniz), had a significant role in “The Rookie: Feds,” and since his character didn’t meet his end on the show, a return could very well be on the cards. From what I’ve gathered, Akdeniz seemed to have a blast being part of “The Rookie” universe and would undoubtedly welcome another opportunity to rejoin the team!
Despite the fact that “The Rookie: Feds” didn’t succeed, the original “The Rokei” franchise continues to thrive and gain popularity. With another spinoff based in Washington State, there are numerous opportunities for cross-overs. Bringing Akdeniz back to “The Rookie” in some fashion is a possibility, especially since Britt Robertson, Felix Solis, and Kevin Zegers from “The Rookie: Feds” will reprise their roles in the main series. This could be through a brief appearance or gradually developing into a more significant role.
Our Take On Akdeniz’s Potential Return To The Franchise
There Is Certainly A Good Chance If It Fits The Story
Although Akdeniz’s comeback hasn’t been officially verified yet, the actor has made it clear that he would welcome another appearance. It’s quite possible this may transpire, but only if the plot allows for Mark Atlas’s reintroduction in some form. There’s a slim possibility Akdeniz could join the cast of The Rookie, playing a new character, but it seems more likely that he might make a cameo appearance which could develop into a guest arc, if he returns to the franchise at all.
