Starting on Tuesday, Disney+ expanded its collection of The Simpsons episodes significantly by offering a continuous, round-the-clock stream of all 35 completed seasons of the famous animated series, available every day. (Season 36 is currently being aired.)
The always-on stream of TV’s longest-running animated hit is a dream come true for millions of fans of the beloved show, which has been broadcast into homes nationwide on Sunday nights since it premiered in 1991. The sharp-witted and dry humor of the series has helped weave the show’s humor and sensibility into the fabric of American culture, as the series gained second and third lives with nearly constant cable TV reruns airing across several networks for years. Beginning in 2020, every episode of the Fox hit becoming available to stream on the Disney+ platform.
Now, fans and first-time viewers won’t even have to select an episode, as all 767 episodes across 35 seasons of The Simpsons have been programmed to run on the stream in chronological order at launch. This totals nearly 300 continuous hours with the Simpsons family.
“From day one, the fans have asked for a stream of The Simpsons, and we’re happy to oblige,” Gabe Lewis, svp of programming & content curation at Disney+, said in a statement. “Streams on Disney+ have been a fantastic go-to experience for subscribers looking to sit back and relax with their favorite shows and movies, and we look forward to evolving the user experience and expanding the offering with more streams, to more subscribers, later this year.”
Matt Selman, who oversees “The Simpsons” television series, announced that the stream will offer a continuous “The Simpsons” marathon, available 24/7. Regardless of when you decide to tune in, this ultimate “Simpsons” binge-watching experience will always be accessible.
The “Simpsons” stream is essentially an uninterrupted playlist of content available on Disney+. It’s like having your very own channel, but this one is a rotating schedule of programs that can be accessed by premium subscribers. Each month, new content will be added to keep things fresh and exciting.
The platform’s premium subscribers can already view its Hits & Heroes lineup, which is a compilation of action-packed stories from marquee brands and franchises including Throwbacks, a destination for always-on nostalgic pop culture content; and Real Life, a lineup of traditional documentaries, biopics, and true stories. Disney+ subscribers already have access to a stream from ABC News featuring live newscasts, breaking news and live events, as well as Disney+ Playtime, which includes all-time favorites for younger viewers.
