Official Trailer and Plot of The Storyteller
In a more casual tone, this film is deeply moving as it guides viewers through an emotional rollercoaster, drawing inspiration from the tales of Satyajit Ray’s Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro. The narrative focuses on Paresh Rawal’s character, Tarini Khuro, a senior and eccentric individual famed for his captivating storytelling abilities.
In his small town, Tarini is recognized for spinning intricate stories that sometimes appear to be overly dramatic or unrealistic. However, as these stories progress, they subtly unveil a more significant and insightful side of his talents.
In 2022, Ananth Mahadevan told Variety why he chose Ray’s story for adaptation. He stated that if the film was meant as a tribute, it would have been necessary to mimic the master’s style. But in an age where cinema is constantly evolving, he didn’t want to face criticism for appearing “out-of-date.
Consequently, Mahadevan tended to incorporate Ray’s filmmaking style, yet he maintained his unique perspective on what the movie would have been like if Ray were the director.
Paresh Rawal, known for his role in Hera Pheri, talked about being part of the project. He shared that although he never got to work with Ray personally, portraying a character written by him felt like making a dream come true. Rawal expressed his immediate interest in the story once he read it.
