‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Warns Fans Will Be Banned for Any “Hate Speech or Bullying” Against Cast, Crew Amid Season 3 Premiere

Fanatics might be eagerly awaiting their third visit to Cousins beach as “The Summer I Turned Pretty” resumes on Wednesday. However, Amazon Prime Video has issued a heads-up beforehand.

On Monday, the official social media page for Prime Video’s TV show issued a warning about online harassment and offensive language as they gear up for the season three debut, marking the final storyline in the TSITP universe and resolving the long-standing love triangle within the series.

Our Cousins is a haven for all things wonderful and enchanting this summer. Let’s make sure our discussions remain respectful and positive.

Our policy is absolutely intolerant towards bullying and offensive language. Any actions such as spreading hate speech, bullying, targeting our team, harassment, or revealing personal information (doxxing) of community members will result in a ban.

In the upcoming third season, inspired by Jenny Han’s popular trilogy, we find Belly Conklin (portrayed by Lola Tung) four years after her choice to be with Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno), leaving brother Conrad (Christopher Briney) distraught. As the series reaches its conclusion, Belly faces a dilemma once more, torn between her feelings for Conrad and Jeremiah. Anticipation among fans has been building as they speculate on how Han will resolve the love triangle, whether she’ll stick to the original story or take a different route, and ultimately who Belly will choose between the two brothers.

After seeing Prime Video’s post, I saw a flood of fans expressing gratitude for my message but also pointing out that bullying has been an issue since the series premiere, especially with the divisive online fan discussions surrounding Elsie Fisher’s character Skye, who is nonbinary and wasn’t in the books. Last season, I acknowledged this bullying and posted on Instagram stories: “The The Summer I Turned Pretty community stands for inclusivity. Harsh comments toward the cast don’t align with our show’s values. Remember to consider the impact of your words and who they might reach.

In the third season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty“, comprising 11 episodes, Han and Sarah Kucserka are the main directors. Alongside them, Karen Rosenfelt serves as an executive producer, with Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen from wiip also taking on this role. The series is a collaborative production between Amazon Studios and wiip.
