‘The Traitors’ Season 3 Finale: Tearful Twists, Helicopter Hijinks and Backstabbing Besties

Oops, Britney Haynes did it again.

It turns out that Haynes had indeed turned against Danielle Reyes, as the latest episode of “The Traitors” revealed. The show picked up where it left off last week, with Haynes having voted to exile Reyes. In the beginning of the penultimate episode, Haynes was approached by her old rival from the “Big Brother Reindeer Games” and asked to become a Traitor. This request came at the start of the season when tensions were already high between them due to Reyes believing she had been betrayed by Haynes during their season on the “Big Brother” spinoff. However, as the season progressed, they grew closer.

Wow, you’ve done it to me again,” Reyes expressed, addressing the group after it came to light that Haynes had, from her perspective, betrayed her once more. With Haynes now being the sole Traitor remaining, she immediately burst into tears, while the rest of the players – Dylan Efron, Gabby Windey, Dolores Catania, and Ivar Mountbatten – exploded in applause.

In the final episode, a new game element called “the seer” was revealed after Reyes left. This designation enables one player, selected based on the results of the previous challenge, to call another player for a private meeting where the summoned player must confess whether they’re a Traitor or not. The Faithfuls were thrilled by this development, but unfortunately for them, it was Haynes who was chosen. The Traitor then invited Windey for a candlelit dinner and, in a strategic move, Haynes honestly informed the other players that Windey was one of the Faithfuls.

During the course of the season, Efron unexpectedly stepped up as a leader, suggesting that both Haynes and Windey might be Traitors. However, Haynes caught onto this and tried to drive a wedge between Efron and the Faithfuls. The group embarked on their final mission: locating $25,000 in gold and a collection of classic cars at an adjacent estate, with the exact location remaining unknown. They successfully found the money and returned to their own Scottish castle with the vehicles and cash. But host Alan Cumming threw a curveball; they had to be strapped into harnesses and hang from a helicopter while tossing the bags of money into a ring of fire, doubling the value towards the prize pot.

After the challenge that boosted the total prize money by $37,500, there was a palpable sense of anticipation within the castle before the final discussion of the season. The banishments could only cease when everyone felt confident in their fellow players’ integrity. “If you’re a Traitor,” Catania threatened Efron before the vote, “I’m going to end you.

The last meeting commenced with predictable confusion. Windey first expressed gratitude towards Haynes for not betraying her after the seer encounter; Mountbatten aimed his suspicion at Catania, and she reciprocated it; Efron declared he’d vote for Haynes, who retaliated against him. Swiftly, Haynes attempted to garner support against Efron. In the end, Haynes was expelled by her peers. The group was subsequently led to the truth fire, where they were presented with a decision – banish someone else if there’s a suspicion of a Traitor in their midst, or conclude the game altogether.

Each participant shared their thoughts on what victory might mean for them. Notably, Windey hinted at a possible wedding if they were victorious – as they revealed this week they got married in January – which ultimately influenced the group’s final decision near the fire of truth. In classic Traitors style, Cumming tossed their responses into a burning pit, and if they opted to end the game, the flames would turn green.

Fortunately, everyone opted for green, which turned out to be a winning move for The Faithfuls. Consequently, they claimed victory in Season Three, an achievement that was overshadowed only by the jubilation that erupted when the group discovered Haynes was indeed a Traitor.

Catania stated that there was no one else they’d rather it had ended with. They’re not departing with wealth, but with cherished friendships instead.
