The View Is Making A Big Change Before Returning To The TV Schedule, But Whoopi Goldberg Is Allegedly Not Happy About It

As a long-time fan of Whoopi Goldberg and her illustrious career spanning stage, screen, and daytime television, I can empathize with her predicament regarding the new dressing room situation at The View. Having spent decades in the entertainment industry, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of a comfortable workspace – especially one that includes a private bathroom, as it seems Goldberg has grown accustomed to.

Whopi Goldberg, a comedian who has won all four major entertainment awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony), is usually recognized for her captivating dramatic performances on the silver screen. However, she’s better known to television viewers as the host of The View, a show that often delves into political discussions. This popular talk show is taking an extended break in the 2024 TV lineup, resuming filming in a new studio in September instead of the usual summer hiatus. But it seems that its moderator isn’t particularly thrilled with the new studio setup.

It’s been reported that Goldberg was dissatisfied with her new workspace at the downtown Manhattan studio, despite it being a modern and advanced facility as described by Sunny Hostin in the video announcement. The main issue seems to be that the architects and designers didn’t give enough attention to the design of the dressing room bathrooms, which Goldberg allegedly found inadequate compared to her previous accommodations. (The Sun newspaper reported this.)

As a long-time gamer, I’ve got to share an interesting tidbit about The View. Years ago, it was recorded at its original studio located at 320 W. 66th St., where it coexisted with the network’s soap opera productions. However, over the last decade or so, it moved further up the road to its current Upper West Side location. Here’s a fun fact: Whoopi Goldberg’s dressing room at the latter studio was said to be the largest among all the regulars. Rumor has it that it even had a full ensuite bathroom with a shower!

Shaq doesn’t mince words when he learns about a rumor that he banned Joy Behar from an eatery: “Charles Barkley, I can tell you started that, and I despise you.”

In Goldberg’s old dressing room, daily morning meetings were allegedly held around a spacious table, necessitating her fellow hosts to convene in Goldberg’s personal space each day (with the exception of Fridays, which have been her regular day off). Unlike Goldberg, not every panel member had their own facilities; however, Joy Behar’s previous quarters did include a bathroom, though it was reportedly smaller than Goldberg’s expansive one.

Without much surprise, it seems Whoopi Goldberg found it hard to adjust in the fresh environment. The report indicates that she unexpectedly chose to relocate her production company’s office from its uptown location and place it next to the studios where The View will continue filming. According to a source, this was done.

Whoopi strongly prefers using her personal dressing room at her production studios instead of the modest facilities provided by ABC.

Even though I don’t possess the authority to relocate a company’s location for personal bathroom privacy, I can’t criticize those who do. In an ideal world, I’d certainly add a private bathroom, kitchen, and home theater to every workspace I use.

According to Broadway World, it was announced earlier in August that Whoopi Goldberg will be displaying her acting abilities on stage for another venture separate from The View. Having previously won a Tony Award in 2002 as a producer for the Best Musical category with Thoroughly Modern Millie, Goldberg is now preparing to step into the role of Miss Hannigan for upcoming performances of ANNIE in New York City from December 11th to January 5th. We can expect that the logistics related to her dressing room will be appropriately managed for this project.

Will the current circumstances of the dressing room on The View potentially persuade Whoopi Goldberg to temporarily step away again and collaborate with Jennifer Love Hewitt once more on a new Sister Act sequel, satisfying the desires of younger fans? I must admit, I’m not wishing for her unhappiness, but I sure do miss Sister Mary Clarence.
