As a long-time fan of The Voice, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I look back at the camaraderie between Adam Levine and Blake Shelton during their early seasons together. It’s like looking at a time capsule of friendship, before they became rivals with all the insults and F-bombs!
In its 26th season on the 2024 television schedule, The Voice finds itself with Snoop Dogg summoning the Gangster Holy Ghost for a powerful start during the Knockouts. Although there are still weeks left in the competition, viewers are eagerly awaiting exciting developments in the upcoming year when original coach Adam Levine will be back on the Big Red Chairs. As fans eagerly look forward to Season 27, it appears that Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine himself is reminiscing, as he posted a touching throwback photo with Blake Shelton, which has left many nostalgic.
Blake Shelton and Adam Levine haven’t been coaches on The Voice together since Season 16, after which the rocker walked away from the show. When he makes his way back on the 2025 TV schedule, the cowboy will be long gone, as Shelton hung up his hat following Season 23. I’m not sure if Levine was feeling nostalgic when he posted this photo from Season 1 to Instagram, but now I sure am:

In the year 2011, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton were mere youngsters! It’s amusing to look back at when they were still close friends, even sharing a sweet forehead kiss – quite different from their later dynamic filled with jabs and profanities.
During Adam Levine’s most outrageous times on the reality singing contest, it’s the rivalry between him and Blake Shelton that is often highlighted in the show’s history. Although both were always competitive in trying to win the show, things escalated to a more personal level when Shelton began dating their co-coach Gwen Stefani.
It appears the lead singer of Maroon 5 felt slighted by not receiving an invitation to their wedding, as only Carson Daly from The Voice family was invited. In response, he hinted at gatecrashing the ceremony and voicing his disapproval of the marriage.
It’s clear that no hard feelings were held by either party in the end, as Adam Levine attended Blake Shelton’s last night on The Voice. Moreover, whispers suggest that Levine is making efforts to bring Shelton back for a reunion on the show.
As a devoted fan, I can only wait to see if my cherished hope materializes. You might recall that the “Texas” singer had made it clear he’d rejoin the show only if all four Season 1 coaches returned. Recently, Christina Aguilera hinted at her mixed feelings about her time there. So, for now, let’s savor every moment we’ve had with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, relishing in their camaraderie and delightful exchanges like the one depicted here.
In spring 2025, Adam Levine will return with a bang and find himself seated next to John Legend, fresh talent Kelsea Ballerini, and Michael Bublé, who has been my personal favorite on Season 26 thus far. Meanwhile, Blake Shelton is joining forces with “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan for an upcoming singing competition named “THE ROAD,” which is set to premiere on CBS in the coming year.
