As a gamer with a deep-rooted love for sitcoms and a soft spot for French culture, I find myself utterly fascinated by Eric Stonestreet’s butter escapade during Modern Family’s Parisian filming. Growing up an American, I can confidently say that my cheese consumption has never reached the levels of our beloved Cam, but perhaps if I had tasted that magical French butter, I might have given it a shot!
Travel is adored by countless individuals, and I believe a large number of them would concur that it offers not only a chance to unwind but also to add excitement to one’s routine and explore unconventional experiences. As Jesse Tyler Ferguson narrates, his co-star Eric Stonestreet, while filming in Paris, once consumed an astonishingly large amount of butter – approximately four city blocks – for a truly extraordinary reason
What’s The Wild Reason That Led To Eric Stonestreet Eating Four Blocks Of Butter While Filming Modern Family In Paris?
Without a doubt, one of the greatest sitcoms ever made is undeniably “Modern Family”. This Emmy-award winning comedy came to an end in 2020 after a highly successful 11-season journey, and its final season featured filming on location in Paris for their renowned Valentine’s Day episodes
I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Ashley Park, star of Emily in Paris, on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s On Me podcast. During our meal, Ashley shared an amusing tale from her experiences in France – she once mistook the water used to clean your hands while eating oysters for lemon juice at a fancy French restaurant and ended up pouring it all over her food! Jesse then joked about sharing this story with his TV husband/Fizbo the clown, Eric Stonestreet. Additionally, Ashley opened up about an incident involving her Modern Family co-star, Eric Stonestreet, who apparently had a penchant for consuming large amounts of butter during a lunch in Paris
During our filming of Modern Family in Paris, Eric and I shared a meal. There was a particular cheese he adored, and he exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, this cheese is fantastic!” He was devouring chunks of it insatiably, asking for more. He said, “I need some more of this!” He consumed the cheese voraciously, then asked, “Can you get me another one that’s still in its wrapper?” I wanted to capture a photo of this cheese. He intended to bring some back to the U.S. Little did he know, it was actually butter. The butter tasted so amazing that he initially mistook it for cheese, and he gobbled up roughly four blocks before realizing his error
Friends, it’s no secret that I have a soft spot for cheese. However, you should know that I’ve never intentionally consumed four full blocks of it at once. That being said, when indulging in a hearty helping of homemade macaroni and cheese, it might be possible that I’ve ingested an amount equivalent to one small block or so. As an American, such an act is practically enshrined as a birthright, thanks to Benjamin Franklin. I can’t help but ponder if Mr. Franklin, who spent nine years in Paris, ever confused their butter for cheese?
Modern Family Season 11: How The Cast Has Changed Since Season 1
In a spirit of fairness towards Stonestreet, who’s currently working on the Amazon series “Home Team“, it’s important to note that the “blocks” of butter he consumed were likely not what we typically visualize as blocks in our minds. Given my lack of personal experience in Paris, I can only speculate, but it seems unlikely they serve a full stick of butter at one sitting on the table. Instead, it was probably a larger-than-usual dollop; perhaps equivalent to half a stick. Even so, consuming that amount of butter in one go is still quite substantial
I’m curious about several things related to the actor from Season 2 of “The Santa Clauses.” What exactly did he eat for lunch that made him preoccupied with blocks of what appeared to be butter, not cheese? Was there an additional cost for consuming such a large amount? Did Ferguson attempt any of it and if so, did he share the same level of appreciation? Lastly, could someone kindly provide me some of this exceptional butter that can easily be mistaken for cheese?
If not, that’s alright. You can maintain your stance. However, the allure of experiencing France firsthand is becoming increasingly compelling to me, given my desire to broaden my horizons. Unfortunately, it seems obtaining funding from ABC might be a challenge
