'There Were A Lot Of Worried Texts.' Sources Close To Liam Payne Are Speaking Out About Him Working On A Netflix Show Post-Rehab

As a fan who has followed Liam Payne‘s journey since his days with One Direction, it is heart-wrenching to see the struggles he faced in his personal life, especially during the last few years. It’s tragic that his battles with substance abuse and isolation ultimately led to his untimely death.

Liam Payne’s upcoming participation in Netflix’s show Building the Band has sparked worries among friends and associates, who wonder if he is ready for such a high-profile role so soon after his recovery period. The late member of One Direction, whose battles with substance abuse are widely known, joined as a guest judge earlier this year alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland. Yet, there are claims that Payne’s management might not have given enough consideration to his well-being.

Trusted acquaintances of the popular music artist reportedly shared with Page Six their worries about his involvement in the program, as they felt it could potentially overstep boundaries. Confidential sources mentioned a chain of anxious messages between friends expressing concern that he was being excessively pressured. One source confided to the publication:

His supervisor encouraged him to perform, and we had numerous anxious messages back and forth. It left us stunned because under the circumstances, it seemed impossible for him to pull it off.

31-year-old music legend met an unfortunate end last week, following a fall from a balcony of a building. A confidant of the pop star claims that Payne had been growing increasingly detached and solitary in recent times.

Over the past couple of months, Liam started distancing himself from his long-time supporters and friends, instead gravitating towards a new circle that didn’t share the same level of concern or assistance he had grown accustomed to.

People close to Payne revealed that he had experienced several drug overdoses in the past few years, one of which was so severe it necessitated resuscitation. His fight against addiction supposedly worsened following One Direction’s break in 2015, causing him to feel lonely and struggle to cope with the absence of his bandmates. As per another report:

He was heartbroken and never really recovered. He was lost without his brothers.

In the ABC News documentary titled “IMPACT x Nightline: One Direction: Liam Payne’s Final Days“, which can be streamed with a Hulu subscription, it was disclosed that an autopsy on the late member of One Direction, Liam Payne, has brought up queries regarding “pink cocaine”, a compound found in his toxicology report. Contrary to its name, pink cocaine doesn’t contain cocaine itself. Instead, it usually refers to a blend of methamphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy, frequently mixed with other substances to produce an intense, unpredictable high. Investigators suspect this mixture, combined with additional intoxicants, may have played a role in the death of the singer known for his hit “Night Changes”. Additionally, authorities reportedly found cocaine and crack in his hotel room, adding to the concerns about the dangers associated with these potent drugs.

The choice to move forward with “Building the Band” has reignited discussions concerning Payne’s management’s impact on him, specifically as he grew distant from traditional support systems. Friends claim that his manager moved him to Miami, which separated him from family and friends, and this separation may have intensified his vulnerability. In the period before his passing, the ex-boy band idol resided in Argentina with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and it was reported they were planning their future together.

After the heart-rending demise of the singer from One Direction’s hit song “What Makes You Beautiful”, the surviving band members issued a collective statement filled with deep sorrow. Individually, they paid tribute to their departed comrade on social media platforms. Simon Cowell, who had nurtured them on The X Factor and subsequently signed them, was “devastated” by the news of his passing.

Previously this year, Liam Payne completed shooting a Netflix series and has stayed in touch with his co-star Nicole Scherzinger, who is currently performing in “Sunset Boulevard” on Broadway. As people close to him wonder whether Netflix and the production team adequately prepared him for his role, considering his public struggles with mental health issues and addiction, it remains uncertain if the show will make its way onto television screens.

As of this writing, Netflix has not commented on the situation.
