As a seasoned gamer of television dramas, I can confidently say that the upcoming episodes of FBI: International are shaping up to be quite the thrilling ride! With Jay Hayden, who I fondly remember from his days on Station 19, joining the cast, it’s like a reunion of sorts for One Chicago fans.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t hide my excitement as CBS’ hit drama FBI: International is gearing up for a new episode in December that has been eagerly anticipated since September! The talented Jay Hayden, known from Station 19, is joining the cast, and his debut will air on December 10th. Jesse Lee Soffer, my favorite ASA Wes Mitchell, has teased about what we can expect from his close friend in the series. I can hardly wait!
I had a chat with the star of FBI: International earlier in the autumn before his introduction as the new leader of The Fly Team, discussing various topics including why viewers of Chicago P.D. should watch, as well as details regarding Mitchell’s connection with Vo. Following the season 4 premiere, which functioned like a pilot and left some questions for Wes unanswered, Soffer hinted at what was to come in continuing the narrative. With Jay Hayden joining us as Agent Tyler Booth imminently, here’s a sneak peek at what the former One Chicago cast member shared:
My good friend Jay Hayden, who is known for his role on Station 19, occasionally returns for a guest stint. During these appearances, he portrays a character who was once partners with Wes in the past. They have experienced their fair share of challenges together, which has left some unresolved issues between them.
Hayden’s character is someone that Mitchell was acquainted with prior to his involvement in the Fly Team, even though their partnership had dissolved at some point prior to the series debut. It’s possible that the past issues between them might explain why Mitchell initially worked with a different partner when he first appeared on screen.
As for that aspect of the plot, we’ll have to wait and see, but Jesse Lee Soffer has hinted at a narrative thread involving Hayden’s character. This storyline seems connected to the antagonist who Mitchell clashed with during the Season 4 premiere. If you’d like to refresh your memory, that episode is now available for viewing with a Paramount+ subscription. The actor revealed this information as follows:
Greg Czonka, portrayed by Beau Knapp, reappears. He issues a menacing warning and eventually extricates himself from the situation. There’s a rich narrative thread unfolding there… [Jay Hayden] lends his support for a while in another storyline involving Beau’s character. It’s an engaging tale with intricate background details.
Since my conversation with Jesse Lee Soffer in October, I’ve learned about Jay Hayden’s role on FBI: International. The specific details are now clearer as the upcoming episode, titled “Keen as a Bean”, is set to air next. As per the official description from CBS, here’s what we can anticipate:
Previously known workmate, Tyler Booth (portrayed by guest star Jay Hayden), who is stationed in the U.S., asks for the Fly Team’s aid in apprehending an American fugitive wanted by the FBI. To achieve this, they plan to use the fugitive’s troubled ex-spouse as bait, hoping to entice him out of Russia.
The reference to the Fly Team pursuing an individual on the “Most Wanted” list sparks curiosity about potential appearances from the cast of FBI: Most Wanted, perhaps offering some international insights. It’s conceivable that Dylan McDermott could make a video call as Remy Scott, or Alana de la Garza from FBI might appear as Isobel Castille.
It appears that Jesse Lee Soffer and Jay Hayden were enjoying themselves during their work on International, judging by the photograph below.
