‘They Begged Everybody Around Me.’ Pamela Anderson Gets Real About Wanting Nothing To Do With Baywatch Years Later And How She Ended Up In The Doc Anyway

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen more TV shows than I can count, I must say, Pamela Anderson‘s decision to skip Hulu’s Baywatch docuseries is quite understandable. After all, who wouldn’t want to move forward and not look back? It’s like choosing between a shiny new game controller and an old joystick – the choice is clear!

Despite being a cast member for just half of its iconic run, and not at the start or finish, Pamela Anderson’s association with Baywatch remains indelible. This connection isn’t something she seems particularly thrilled about now in her career, but she’s always ready to don the red swimsuit when it serves her best interests. However, she made it clear that she had no interest in Hulu’s recent docuseries titled After Baywatch.

Anderson is all set to dominate the 2025 cinema landscape with not one, but two leading roles on the big screen. One is in the long-awaited reboot of “The Naked Gun” alongside Liam Neeson, and the other is in Gia Coppola’s drama titled “The Last Showgirl.” In an interview with Glamour, Anderson discussed her strategy for making a significant impact in Tinseltown following the success of her 2023 Netflix documentary and memoir. She clarified her choice to pass on “After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” which at the time of the conversation had not yet been released. In her own words:

Even today, someone showed me something that Hulu’s doing, some kind of Baywatch [documentary] which I have nothing to do with. And so they just dug up some interview. But I had nothing to do with this documentary.

Although it’s uncertain if the advertising for the docuseries came after Anderson agreed to participate, it is known that “After Baywatch” was marketed with the suggestion of cast members from the past being involved. Moreover, a previously unreleased interview with Pam Anderson from the ’90s while she was still on the show was also highlighted. Nothing particularly revolutionary, but something they could promote without the actress’s direct input.

However, it appears that the creative team working on the documentary made every effort to persuade her or someone associated with her to participate, as stated by Anderson.

They pleaded with everyone nearby, attempting to persuade me by offering incentives like producer credits for my children. However, they were met with a firm refusal from me as I expressed my unwillingness to revert to the past.

Following the announcement of Baywatch on the 2024 TV schedule in August, it reignited some curiosity about the global phenomenon and the upcoming reboot, even hinting at Pamela Anderson’s possible involvement. However, it didn’t create a massive global stir. Could things have been different if the actress from Barb Wire agreed to grant new interviews? It could have certainly made a positive impact.

In a separate part of the interview, Anderson repeated her previous assertions that neither the creators nor cast members from the Hulu series “Pam & Tommy” sought her approval or input, despite Robert Siegel and actress Lily James claiming they contacted her representatives at various instances.

Both After Baywatch and Pam & Tommy can be streamed with a Hulu subscription.
