‘They Weren’t Surprised.’ Christina Haack Confirms How Tarek And Heather El Moussa Sensed The Split Was Coming While HGTV’s Flip Off Was Filming

Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa have been creating celebrity relationship turbulence on HGTV since 2013, when they were a feuding couple on Flip or Flop. Their drama persists even now. In their new show The Flip Off, which debuted in the 2025 TV lineup, Haack is engaging in disputes with her third husband Josh Hall. However, their union doesn’t last long as the premiere episode, titled “The Breakup,” reveals that Haack is announcing her divorce from Hall. Interestingly enough, neither El Moussa nor his wife Heather Rae seemed taken aback by this announcement, and Haack explained they had sensed it coming.

The Flip Off had an awkward premise to begin with, pitting exes Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa against each other in a house-flipping competition with their respective spouses to see who could turn a bigger profit. Things quickly went off the rails, with Josh Hall even saying on camera, “My wife’s pissing me off,” and Haack was single again before the end of the episode. Turns out the El Moussas were privy to some of the BTS details of the Halls’ marriage, as Christina told People:

We’d discussed the matter with both of them earlier. They knew there were problems that needed addressing, specifically concerning working with Josh due to existing complications. They didn’t express shock and instead showed immense support.

Given their shared business venture, it’s understandable that Christina Haack would need to update the El Moussas about her situation with Josh Hall. Interestingly, Haack implied that issues between them predated their decision to collaborate on the show “The Flip Off“.

It seemed clear to me from the initial episode that Josh Hall wasn’t at all comfortable with his wife maintaining a close friendship with her first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa. Despite their divorce, Christina Haack and Tarek share two children together, which makes maintaining a friendly co-parenting relationship much more beneficial than the heated arguments that marked their time on ‘Flip or Flop’ post-divorce. El Moussa touched upon this when commenting on the Halls’ separation, stating:

Indeed, her well-being matters greatly to us, not only for her sake but also considering the children as well. After all, we are like one big family, and it’s tough to witness someone going through a difficult time. [Christina,] I am aware that you have been putting in a lot of effort, or you yourself have been working diligently, trying to navigate through this situation. I understand that you have given it your all, but unfortunately, it wasn’t the best fit for her or the kids. I believe they are now in a more comfortable and suitable place.

Tarek El Moussa’s world holds a special place where he can share a seat with Heather Rae, openly demonstrating their mutual concern for his ex-wife Christina Haack. Their affection extends to ensuring her wellbeing, something that resonates deeply within their family. Fans admired this display, not just because they cheered Josh Hall’s departure from “The Breakup,” but also because they commended El Moussa for acknowledging his past mistakes towards Haack and making amends.

It’s quite unexpected, even a few years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa could reach such a mature phase together. Frankly, I’m more taken aback by that than they were when Josh Hall was let go.
