Interestingly, even her own mother contacted her with an idea she’s “prepared to negotiate”.
Kendrick recently dropped by Chicks In The Office for a chat about her exciting directorial debut and hinted at the prospect of the Barden Bellas reuniting since the third movie in 2017. She mentioned that, lately, there has been strong demand from the public for another film focusing on the a cappella group, even her own mother is among them. In her own words:
Last night at 10 p.m., my mother, seriously (and I can provide the messages as evidence), reached out with an unexpected proposal: if there’s a Pitch Perfect 4 in the works, she has an idea to share. She didn’t disclose the details, possibly due to secrecy. Later, she added that she might be willing to sell this concept to Paramount for the right price. I replied, hinting at the film being produced by Universal, that perhaps she’s just a shrewd businesswoman.
According to what Kendrick mentioned on the podcast, she’s receiving numerous calls regarding a potential Pitch Perfect 4, even exchanging texts about it with her closest family members. During the show, she hinted that her mother has an idea for where the franchise could go next, though she didn’t reveal specifics in their text conversations. Interestingly, she’s serious enough about it to discuss bringing studios into the picture. In other words, Mom Kendrick seems eager for her daughter to reprise her role just as fans are!
Later on, Kendrick was asked if there were plans for ‘Pitch Perfect 4’ or if it was just a popular desire among fans. Here’s what she said in response:
I think it’s just something people want. I always feel that if something’s going to be made to happen, Rebel is always going to be the steam train that marches into Universal, or Paramount, who knows?
