As a die-hard Survivor enthusiast, I can hardly contain my anticipation for Season 50 hitting our screens in 2025. The prospect of seeing beloved players return to the game is already generating a buzz that’s hard to ignore! But here’s the twist – the specific theme or premise for this milestone season hasn’t been selected yet. Jeff Probst, the show’s mastermind, has shed some light on why they’re taking their time with this decision, and I can certainly understand his reasoning.
For some time now, the popular “Survivor” host has been working to decide who’ll return for the upcoming special season. But that’s not the only challenge they face – they also don’t yet know the theme, the specific challenges, the location, and so on. The project is in motion, but there’s still a lot of ground to cover, as Probst shared with EW.
For fifty days now, our innovative concept has eluded us, but rest assured, we’ve been giving it plenty of thought. It seems to flow more effortlessly through our minds when we’re discussing it in relation to Survivor, as opposed to actually bringing it to life during production.
Apart from making Season 51 an impressive follow-up to the monumental Season 40, “Winners at War,” they also face the challenge of surpassing the grandeur of that special anniversary season. Featuring a lineup of 20 returning champions, it was nothing short of spectacular. Given the tough act to follow, I’m confident they’re up to the task and I’m excited they’ve begun brainstorming ideas for it already.
Another significant factor is that Season 50 hasn’t been finalized, as of now. There are a few seasons left to be broadcast before we reach it. At the time when the EW article was written, Season 47 hadn’t even premiered yet, and we’re now moving towards the premiere of Season 48. After that, there’s one more season to air before they hit the landmark Season 50, as Probst mentioned.
We have yet to tackle issues numbered 47, 48, and 49 ahead of us. It might seem like I’m avoiding the subject, but I assure you, I am not. To me, these problems are quite stressful. What strategies should we employ for addressing problem 47? What about problem 48? And how will we handle issue 49?
Currently, the team is moving forward one season at a time. However, this doesn’t seem to hinder Probst and the production crew from brainstorming potential concepts for Survivor 50, pondering what might be exciting to execute.
Before we delve deeply into the topic at hand, let me share some exciting news: The upcoming “Survivor 48” is scheduled to air on CBS in February. This should keep fans entertained for a while! There’ll be new challenges, immunity idols, and perhaps even a few firsts for “Survivor.” Given the recent trends, it seems like each season has been more thrilling than the last. Regardless of what unfolds, I’m certain it will lead to another exhilarating season, which will only heighten my anticipation for Season 50.
It could take some time before the groundwork is laid for Survivor 50, but it’s possible that they are closer to finalizing it than fans might think. At the minimum, viewers can get ready for this eagerly awaited season by watching all 47 past episodes with a Paramount+ subscription.
It’s uncertain who will come back and what the storyline will entail, but the excitement just keeps growing as we eagerly await the premiere of Survivor 50. I can hardly contain my impatience to see how it unfolds!
