That’s exactly what developer Grizzly Games has accomplished with Thronefall, stripping it down to the fundamental elements.

As a gamer, I can tell you that Thronefall is an appealing real-time strategy game that offers a unique blend of day and night gameplay. During the day, it’s all about constructing and fortifying your defenses. At night, however, the challenge lies in surviving wave after wave of monsters until dawn breaks. It’s crucial to manage both the everyday functioning of my city and its defense systems effectively to withstand the relentless attacks of the approaching horde.

Thronefall shares similarities with survival strategy games such as They Are Billions, but it focuses more on traditional medieval defense tactics, like fortifying walls, deploying archers, and using knights. The scope of the game is somewhat smaller compared to its counterparts.

As a gamer, I can’t help but be drawn in by the captivating visuals of Thronefall. Its cel-shaded art style and vibrant colors make it a treat for the eyes, even on a compact screen. Plus, being an old-timer who played it back in 2024 on PC, I’m thrilled to see all the updates and improvements tailored specifically for mobile gamers, ready for me to dive right in!

In Thronefall, you aren’t limited to solely constructing defensive structures like towers; instead, you can choose either to take cover and attack enemies from afar or lead your own charge straight into them, similar to the iconic Ride of Rohan. If you believe you could mount a defense more effectively than Theoden, then it might be worth trying your hand at it!
