Tim Curry Is Appearing In His First Live Action Movie In Over A Decade, And It's A Horror Movie

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the captivating world of horror films, I can hardly contain my excitement for Tim Curry‘s return to the big screen after over a decade. The man is a living legend, and his ability to embody unique roles with an unforgettable charm is nothing short of mesmerizing.

Tim Curry, a legendary actor on screen, had a knack for captivating audiences with his performances that were hard to forget. Some of his most memorable roles include IT, Legend, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sadly, after a stroke in 2012 left him wheelchair-bound, Curry’s live-action roles took a pause, limiting him to voiceover work. However, recently, there is some exciting news as Tim Curry makes his comeback to the big screen with an upcoming horror movie!

Tim Curry is best known for his role in the horror musical comedy film “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” where he played the charismatic transvestite character Frank-N-Furter from Transsexual, Transylvania. Moreover, he left an indelible mark when he took on the part of Pennywise, the menacing clown-like entity, in the miniseries “IT.”

After nearly five decades since “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and more than a decade since Tim Curry last played a live-action role in “Burke & Hare,” the multi-talented artist is stepping back into the horror genre for the upcoming slasher film, “Stream.” Michael Leavy, the writer, director, and producer of this project, shared with Variety how thrilled he was to have Curry join his team on this horror venture.

This has been a really hard secret to keep and contain our excitement, especially for this long. We are so happy and thrilled to bring Tim back to the movies and back to the big screen! His charm always radiates and shines through everything he does and we are so honored to have him a part of ‘Stream’! He is someone I have idolized personally growing up and it is one of the major highlights of my life getting to work with him, especially on a project that means so much to me. We can’t wait for fans to sit back and enjoy our movie in theaters and hopefully with a huge crowd having a blast together! This is the way horror films are meant to be seen and enjoyed. ‘Stream’ is here to entertain!

I clearly grasp Michael Leavy’s enthusiasm with Tim Curry joining his production. It’s one of the reasons he’s such an exceptional actor – his ability to immerse himself completely in unique roles. Even in non-horror films like “Home Alone 2,” “Annie,” and “Muppet Treasure Island,” he managed to make his performances both chilling and unforgettable. I can visualize many Curry fans, eagerly waiting to witness the Tony nominee’s return to the big screen after more than a decade.

Since his stroke, the actor from The Three Musketeers has been devoting more time to voiceover work. Some of his notable animated performances include his Emmy-winning role as Captain Hook in Peter Pan and the Pirates and Nigel Thornberry in the beloved Nicktoon, The Wild Thornberrys. Although Tim Curry’s last big-screen role was in the 2010 comedy Burke & Hare, film enthusiasts haven’t forgotten the energy and skill he contributed to the movie industry over the years.

As a long-time horror enthusiast with a passion for classic slasher films, I can confidently say that the upcoming movie “Stream” is bound to be a must-watch for fans like myself. Having followed the impressive work of the team behind “Terrifier,” their involvement in this new project has already piqued my interest. The presence of horror legends such as Danielle Harris from “Halloween,” Tony Todd from “Candyman,” and Tim Reid, who was part of the “IT” miniseries with Tim Curry, further solidifies my excitement.
