As a huge fan of both Conor Leslie and Bryan Edward Hill, I’m absolutely thrilled to see them teaming up for “Archangel,” a horror thriller that promises to deliver chills and suspense in equal measure. Having watched Leslie bring Donna Troy to life on DC’s Titans, I can only imagine the depth and intensity she’ll bring to her role in this new project. And with Hill making his directorial debut and serving as the writer, we can expect a gripping narrative that taps into our deepest fears.
In the DC series “Titans,” Conor Leslie portrayed Donna Troy. Now, she will be featured in the role of leading actress in the horror thriller “Archangel,” penned by comic book and film writer Bryan Edward Hill.
At the helm of “Titans,” where he served as a writer and executive producer, Hill is making his first directorial venture with this upcoming film. The production has recently concluded its shoot, keeping a low profile. The movie will be premiered at next week’s Comic-Con in San Diego, with Hill and Leslie present to share insights.
Two entities, Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Abu Dhabi, have teamed up to produce horror content, hinting at the rise of a new force in the genre. Their past projects include “Watcher,” a thriller helmed by Chloe Okuno with Maika Monroe in the lead role, and “Late Night with the Devil,” an affordable horror sensation that shattered IFC Films’ opening weekend records, grossing over $10 million domestically.
The Archangel project focuses on exploring the concept of life beyond death through a secretively financed institution. However, it faces opposition from an ancient force determined to prevent humans from uncovering the genuine mysteries of the supernatural realm.
At the same time, Hill is creating and penning down a comic book with a plot based in the universe of Archangel. This project is presently being presented to publishing companies.
In addition to the main actors, the film features Greg Hovanessian (from “Cardinal”), Alyshia Ochse (“True Detective”), Azure Parsons (“The Astronauts Wives Club”), and Trevor Riley (“Animal Kingdom”).
Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee (of “Barbarian”) and Steven Schneider (“Insidious”), along with Derek Dauchy from Image Nation (known for “Late Night with the Devil”), collaborated on its production, with Julius Pryor and Hill from Kevlar Creative also contributing. Ben Ross and Rami Yasin served as executive producers.
At Comic-Con, attendees will get an initial peek at “Archangel” during a panel. Joining Schneider will be Leslie, who has worked on “The Man in the High Castle,” and artwork from the graphic novel will be displayed as well.
