TKO Group Holdings, which owns UFC, WWE, and soon IMG, PBR, and other sports entities, will be orchestrating its debut urban takeover, unifying its key brands – UFC, WWE, and others – within a single location for the duration of a long weekend.
On Wednesday, it was announced that the company plans to seize control of Kansas City‘s T-Mobile Center starting in April. This move will introduce a Professional Bull Riders competition, a UFC Fight Night, and WWE Raw to the location from April 24th to 28th. The transaction is being orchestrated with the assistance of the Kansas City Sports Commission.
For the first time in the history of TKO, I’m thrilled about the opportunity to harness the combined power of our diverse brands under one roof. Although we already own WWE and UFC, we’re on the verge of acquiring PBR, On Location, and IMG, which were announced as future acquisitions last year.
VeChain, a blockchain company, is set to be the main event sponsor. They will also offer exclusive ticket bundles that grant access to all three occurrences. Additionally, On Location will provide VIP experiences alongside these special packages.
For years, Kansas City has been hosting numerous UFC, WWE, and PBR events collectively, making it a top choice for each of these promotions. According to Peter Dropick, executive VP of event development and operations for TKO, this is an exceptional chance to exhibit these three leading organizations in the same city simultaneously. This is advantageous for both local fans and visitors alike. We are grateful to the Kansas City Sports Commission and the management at T-Mobile Center for making this collaboration possible.
TKO is focusing on expanding the number of sites where they can host events, with the aim that these locations will pay for the privilege, thereby boosting tourism revenue in the region.
Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC, expressed her excitement about maintaining the city’s legacy of hosting top-notch global events. She explained that this will be achieved by collaborating with three prominent figures in the sports and entertainment sector. These events are expected to bring substantial financial benefits to our local hotels and businesses, while also putting Kansas City under the limelight through media broadcasts and social media platforms.
TKO is set to report earnings later in the afternoon Wednesday.
