In this production, Patralekhaa opted to focus behind the scenes, choosing instead to cast Sanya Malhotra as her husband’s co-star. Lately, Patralekhaa shared the genuine motivation behind her decision not to act in the comedic film while expressing her affection for the art of filmmaking.

During an interview with Hindustan Times, Patralekhaa discussed her first project, “Toaster,” which features Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. She disclosed that instead of acting in the movie, she chose to be part of it behind-the-scenes, as she wished to learn about filmmaking.

She expressed her sincere eagerness to learn about the filmmaking process. From the get-go, she was determined not to appear in the first movie our team would produce. Instead, she wanted to focus on understanding production and, fortunate as we are, Sanya is incredibly gifted, which makes me even more pleased with my choice.

In response to being inquired about my role as a producer alongside my husband, Rajkummar Rao, I shared that we’ve always maintained an excellent professional rapport. This particular project solidified our working dynamic and I expressed gratitude for his unwavering support when I decided to venture into production. He’s been instrumental in guiding me through this new phase.

For IC 814: In the case of the Kandahar Hijack film, production represents an organic evolution of her storytelling passion. She shared that she and her husband have consistently been cinema enthusiasts, and with this latest role, they aim to advocate for stories they deeply resonate with.

Despite acknowledging that the “business aspect of filmmaking” poses the greatest hurdle for her, she explained that acting and producing present distinct responsibilities. As an actor, one only focuses on their performance, but as a producer, one takes charge of everything— from script conception to realization. The 35-year-old actress expressed her intention to venture into production to create films that hadn’t been presented to her as an actress.

In January, Netflix unveiled their upcoming comedic production titled “Toaster,” which boasts stars like Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa. This announcement was made at a special event hosted by the streaming service. The film is directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and includes notable actors such as Archana Puran Singh, Upendra Limaye, Farah Khan, Abhishek Banerjee, and Seema Pahwa in prominent roles.
