As a movie buff with over three decades of immersion in the cinematic universe, I can confidently say that Tom Hardy’s foray into the world of comics with Arcbound is not just an exciting development but a bold and promising one. Having grown up on comic books as a source of endless inspiration and imagination, I find it heartening to see an actor of his caliber taking a leap into this realm.
Tom Hardy, who recently starred in “Venom: The Last Dance,” might appear to have concluded his stint with the Marvel universe for now, but he’s far from done exploring new territories. In fact, Hardy is set to make his comic book debut with Arcbound, a fresh sci-fi series being published by Dark Horse, and created by Scott Snyder, a New York Times best-selling author known for “Absolute Batman,” and Frank Tieri, a veteran comics writer recognized for “New Excalibur.
The 12-part Arcbound series is set to debut on November 13, 2024, with notable contributors like Tom Hardy, Ryan Ottley, Clay Mann, Tyler Kirkham, Rose Besch, and Dan Panosian. Ryan Smallman, known for his work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will handle the comic’s illustrations. Franky William and Buddy Beaudoin will be in charge of coloring and lettering, respectively.
Dark Horse‘s official synopsis for Arcbound reads as follows:
In a time when Earth is a desolate, lifeless expanse, Zynitec leverages the unrivaled power of Kronium to expand its rule across the cosmos. However, when Kai, an up-and-coming Mediator within Zynitec’s forces, receives a puzzling message from an enigmatic source, everything he thought he knew is challenged – leading him on a journey to understand what it really means to be human in an era where technology and personal identity become increasingly indistinguishable.
Although there are 12 problems with the series Arcbound, it is just the initial issue that will be made available on November 13. This release will coincide with a Kickstarter campaign offering a unique hardcover edition of the first volume’s content. The subsequent volumes will follow in the ensuing weeks. In fact, Snyder shared with Variety that this special edition will include not only the first volume but also interviews and designs to give readers a deeper understanding of Arcbound.
We can’t contain our enthusiasm as we unveil the Kickstarter launch for our Special Collector’s Edition Hardcover! This remarkable volume gathers the complete first storyline, accompanied by interviews, sketches, and an abundance of additional content.
Tom Hardy Is Excited About Arcbound’s Release
As a follower, I’m thrilled to be part of the launch of “Arcbound,” marking Hardy’s first foray into comic books as both a creator and advocate. Truth be told, I’ve been eagerly anticipating this project because comics have always held a special place in my heart as a medium for passionate storytelling, something I’ve long admired and aspired to be part of. In an exclusive interview with Variety, Hardy shared his rekindled love for comics through the creation of “Arcbound.” In his own words, he expresses how this project has reignited his passion for comic books.
For me, comics have always served as a boundless arena for creativity, a realm I’m perpetually fascinated by across various storytelling mediums. It’s astounding how vast realms are crafted from modest creative teams, free from financial limitations, their only boundary being the extent of their imagination. It’s a privilege to collaborate with esteemed figures like Scott, Frank, and Ryan in shaping the ‘Arcbound’ universe.
At the moment, Hardy is deeply involved with the project titled Arcbound. Yet, he’s looking forward to participating in multiple upcoming ventures such as Havoc, Mad Max: The Wasteland, Blood on Snow, and War Party. Furthermore, this Academy Award-nominated performer takes a significant role in The Donovans, sharing screen time with Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. However, the excitement among fans lies in the possibility of Hardy reprising his role in the MCU with a more substantial part than just a cameo, like in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
On November 13, 2024, Arcbound gets launched. You can even pre-order a digital version of it on Amazon right now!
