Tom Selleck Has Been Saying CBS Made A Mistake With Blue Bloods For Months, But He's Not The Only Cast Member Who Sees The Cancelation As A 'Real Loss'

As a long-time fan of “Blue Bloods”, I must say that the upcoming final season feels like the end of an era. Having followed the series since its debut in 2010, I’ve grown attached to the characters and the actors who portray them. The cast, particularly Bridget Moynahan, has become more than just screen personalities; they’re a constant presence in my living room every Friday night.

In a recent update, it’s been clarified why Tom Selleck is expressing frustration over the cancellation of “Blue Bloods” on CBS. However, it’s important to note that he isn’t the only cast member feeling disheartened as we approach the release of the final season, scheduled for 2024. His co-star Bridget Moynahan has also expressed her sadness about the series ending prematurely.

Moynahan, much like Selleck, joined the “Blue Bloods” series since its debut in 2010. On the show, she portrays Erin, the daughter of the family’s patriarch Frank Reagan. Over the years, she has filmed numerous Reagan family gatherings and bonded closely with her fellow cast members. When asked about the possibility of the series coming to an end, she was candid, just as her co-star has been, expressing this sentiment to TV Line.

We’re all feeling quite let down, as we’ve been having a fantastic time together. Everyone really wants to stick around. It’s truly disheartening that this experience has come to an end.

As a dedicated gamer, I can relate to the actors’ experience. In gaming, you never know when a game gets discontinued or when a new one takes over. You might invest hours into a single game, only to find yourself moving on to another one soon after. But for a show like Blue Bloods, which has been running for more than a decade, that’s quite unusual. It’s not every day you stick with the same team for such a long time, and that’s what makes it special.

In fact, Moynahan described the work as a “consistent” part of her life, providing further insights about her strong bonds with her co-stars, such as Selleck, but also Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Len Cariou, and numerous others.

For the past fourteen years, this has been the rhythm of ours, sharing every day. We’ve gone through significant milestones as a group, be it joyous occasions like weddings and births, or challenging times such as separations, losses, and illnesses – we’ve faced it all unitedly.

Selleck has expressed his disappointment with CBS before, and he’s articulated his reasons effectively. The show, despite airing in a challenging time slot on Friday evenings, has not only persisted but flourished in ratings for 14 seasons. Remarkably, when the network chose to cancel it, the show was still among the top-rated programs on television networks.

In contrast to some other networks, CBS didn’t abruptly include “Blue Bloods” among their list of shows being canceled or ended in 2024. Instead, they decided to gradually wind down the show. Fans were treated to new episodes last spring and more are scheduled for this fall. The upcoming episodes will air on October 18th.
