As a seasoned gamer who’s been following Lara Croft’s escapades since the early days of pixelated adventures, I must say, Netflix’s renewal for a second season of “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” is music to my ears!
Netflix is plotting a new set of adventures for its version of Lara Croft.
The animators have decided to continue with their show “Tomb Raider: The Story of Lara Croft” for another season. This decision was made swiftly, happening only two weeks following the debut of its initial eight-episode run.
Following the popular Tomb Raider video game series, “The Legend of Lara Croft” is a show that continues the journey of the adventurer (portrayed by Hayley Atwell), post the events of Square Enix’s video game reboot trilogy. This series intends to provide more details about Lara Croft’s storyline, bridging the gap between the reboot trilogy – which essentially was an origin story for the character – and the original games.
In the second season, as per Netflix, Lara will uncover a series of pilfered African Orisha masks. Teaming up with her close friend Sam (previously heard by Karen Fukuhara), she aims to recover these valuable artifacts. The narrative unfolds as Lara embarks on an exhilarating journey that leads her across continents, unearthing more about the clandestine past of Orisha history. She must navigate through the intricate plots of a wealthy and mysterious tycoon who covets the masks, all while unveiling secrets hidden within these relics that challenge rationality. These secrets seem to harbor power that could potentially be divine.
In the main cast of Season One, you’ll find Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon. Meanwhile, Richard Armitage, Zoe Boyle, Roxana Ortega, and Nolan North were part of the recurring roles.
The well-known production house, Legendary Television, is behind the series titled “The Legend of Lara Croft“. Tasha Huo (from ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’) takes on writing and producing roles, while dj2 Entertainment founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, Jacob Robinson through his Tractor Pants company, Dallas Dickinson, Noah Hughes from Crystal Dynamics, Howard Bliss and Jen Chambers are also involved as executive producers. Powerhouse Animation is responsible for the animation, with Brad Graeber in a producing role.
