Tommy Hilfiger SS25 Rocked the Old Staten Island Ferry

As a gamer with a keen eye for fashion and a soft spot for the nautical, I found myself absolutely captivated by Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 show. Having attended more than a few fashion events, I can confidently say that the calculated chaos at a Tommy show is as much a part of the experience as the designs themselves. The atmosphere was electric, with industry insiders and celebrities alike vying for attention in the narrow corridors.

On Sunday at sunset, a multitude of fashion enthusiasts in New York lined up one after another to board the MV John F. Kennedy, which was previously a Staten Island Ferry but will soon become a comedy and music venue owned by Pete Davidson and Colin Jost. This was for Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2025 fashion show.

Upon arrival, celebrities like Felix from Stray Kids and Lee Know, Jisoo of Blackpink, along with actors Damson Idris, Shay Mitchell, and Madelyn Cline, were surrounded by enthusiastic fans and photographers in the narrow passages of the boat. Editors scrambled to find their seats on the vintage benches of the ferry while munching on classic popcorn boxes provided by Tommy’s model team. The buzz of conversations grew louder amidst the sound of champagne flutes clinking and the gentle rocking of the ship. This was the organized pandemonium that is characteristic of a Tommy show, similar to the deafening rainstorm at the Factory show.

A heavy hip-hop beat put a halt to the madness, before models imminently began weaving through the ship’s slim walkways in Hilfiger’s latest. “We’re revisiting the nautical and maritime inspirations that have defined our signature look since 1985,” the designer said. “Today, it’s updated and remixed for 2025: the look has the ease of effortless summer style, but with a confidence that feels ready to step off the ferry and back into the city.”

In this collection, Breton and Ithaca striped shirts, inspired by sailing tradition, were the go-to pieces, while vintage regatta jackets and practical trousers made from sailcloth nylons and wrinkled cottons were designed for water adventures. Hilfiger added to his classic preppy style with leather varsity jackets, chinos patterned like decks, and yacht shorts with double pleats. For the captain’s cabin, club blazers bearing TH emblems, monogrammed robes, and hand-woven slippers provided ultimate comfort. Hilfiger dubbed this style “New American Prep.

After his models, the designer walked along the temporary catwalk, followed closely by Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon from Wu-Tang Clan. Their electrifying show, orchestrated by Questlove, instantly drew a crowd of iPhones. It’s clear that Hilfiger’s “showtainment” made quite the splash.
