Apart from being part of the Jackass group, Bam Margera was additionally a skilled skateboarder who had a close friendship with Tony Hawk, and even featured in the initial versions of the “Pro Skater” video game series.
It has been disclosed that the re-releases of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4″ are on the horizon, and it turns out that some veteran skaters from the past will make a comeback—however, Margera is not among them.
Bam Margera Won’t be in THPS3+4
The lineup for the combined versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 has been disclosed (via VGC), and although many familiar skaters are on the list, there is no indication that Bam Margera will be rejoining the team. GameSpot also stated, “Bam Margera won’t feature in this game. It seems people don’t want to fund him anymore.
Undeniably, for those who have kept tabs on Margera online over the last few years, it’s clear that he’s struggled significantly with substance abuse. His most significant setback, however, was being let go from the Jackass Forever movie during filming while they were in production.
It seems that despite Margera recently sharing videos of his improvement on social media, it’s probable that Activision and the team responsible for the remake chose not to include him due to the potential complications (or adverse reactions) associated with his involvement.
Margera’s History with Pro Skater
Despite not making his debut in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games from their inception, Margera was first introduced in Pro Skater 3. He appeared in subsequent releases, eventually becoming a significant Non-Player Character (NPC) in Tony Hawk’s Underground 2. In this game, they have an event known as the World Destruction Tour, where skaters are divided into Team Hawk and Team Bam.
Among the nine games in the series, Bam Margera featured in seven. Hence, it’s fair to conclude that he was a consistent presence when it comes to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise.
How are the Fans Taking It?
Fans of “Jackass” have maintained a keen interest in the life of Margera ever since his dismissal from “Jackass Forever”. Now, it seems that even skateboarding enthusiasts might express their thoughts on this recent development.
Regarding Twitter, it seems a significant number of users were hoping to see Margera featured in the game, given his notable presence in many tweets about it. For instance, here’s one example: [Tweet Content]
Some fans opted for a more tactful approach when advocating for Margera’s exclusion. Given his current circumstances and intense scrutiny, it might not be advisable to have him play a significant role in a game backed by the studio.
Should these reboots continue in the coming years, it might open up an opportunity for him to come back, provided he can successfully avoid any missteps or complications.
The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 remastered versions will be released on July 11, available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4 and 5.
