Toronto Film Fest Adds Chloé Zhao, Paul Greengrass, Rian Johnson Films to 2025 Lineup

For the 50th anniversary of the Toronto Film Festival, they have announced world premieres for the new movies from directors such as Paul Greengrass, Rian Johnson, Hikari, Agnieszka Holland, and Canadian filmmaker Clement Virgo.

On Wednesday, Toronto-based programmers revealed six new titles for a gala event, one of which was the world premiere of “The Choral” directed by Nicholas Hytner. This production marks his collaboration with writer Alan Bennett on a First World War drama. Notable actors Ralph Fiennes and Jim Broadbent are part of the cast, and Sony Pictures Classics has acquired this production.

A fresh ensemble of suspects, including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, and Kerry Washington, among others, join him in this captivating whodunit!

Additionally, Brendan Fraser has been scheduled for the comedy-drama film titled “Rental Family,” set in Tokyo and directed by Hikari and distributed by Searchlight Pictures. Moreover, “The Lost Bus” – a thriller about wildfires – is underway, helmed by director Paul Greengrass for Apple Original Films, featuring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. Lastly, the psychological thriller “Steal Away,” directed by Clement Virgo, tells the story of a teenager forming an unusual bond with a secretive refugee accepted into her compassionate family.

Additionally, Agnieszka Holland’s new biographical movie titled “Franz” featuring German actor Idan Weiss will have its premiere in Toronto. This is scheduled during the Toronto Film Festival of 2025, running from September 4th to 14th. Further details about the film lineup will be revealed over the upcoming weeks.
