As a die-hard fan of “Tracker”, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation when it comes to the Shaw family reunion. Growing up watching Jensen Ackles on “Supernatural” and Melissa Roxburgh on “Battle Starlight,” their return to our screens as Russell and Dory Shaw is like a homecoming for me.
As a gamer, I can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming Season 2 of “Tracker,” CBS’s newest smash hit! The enigmatic character played by Justin Hartley, Colter Shaw, has left me with plenty of unanswered questions following the gripping events of Season 1. With his secretive upbringing still shrouded in mystery and his father’s killer yet to be revealed (the talented Lee Tergesen as Ashton Shaw from “Oz”), I can hardly contain my anticipation for the reunion of all three Shaw siblings. It’s a moment that I, along with many others, have been eagerly waiting for in Season 2!
In Season 1, Colter’s older brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) and younger sister, Dory (Melissa Roxburgh), are separately introduced, but they haven’t had a family gathering yet. So far, we haven’t seen all three of them together in the present, except for some flashbacks to their childhood. However, since Russell and Dory often communicate, it’s possible that they might unite to uncover the truth about their father’s demise.
With Robin Weigert leaving the show “Tracker”, it might be beneficial to introduce more regular characters to compensate for the gap. Roxburgh and Ackles have demonstrated their abilities in two standout episodes of the first season, “Beyond the Campus Walls” and “Off the Books”. If Colter is to uncover the truth about their complex past, it would be helpful if his brother and sister could assist him in this endeavor.
Jensen Ackles and Melissa Roxburgh have been confirmed for Season 2
While we don’t know which episodes they’ll appear in or how long they’ll stick around, Justin Hartley (who also serves as an executive producer on the series) has confirmed that both Russell and Dory will return in Season 2. “We got [Jensen Ackles]. He’s coming back,” Hartley explained at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour (via TV Line). Additionally, showrunner Elwood Reid confirmed that Melissa Roxburgh has also been booked for Season 2, despite her commitment to the upcoming NBC series “The Hunting Party.”
In the “Tracker” series, neither Russell nor Dory are essential for primary roles, as other characters handle all the required duties; however, they play crucial parts in the broader storyline that the show is developing. There appears to be a deeper mystery surrounding their father’s suspicious activities, and it’s possible that Mary Dove Shaw (played by Wendy Crewson) might have been involved in some extramarital dealings that contribute to this enigma.
But no matter which jobs Colter tackles in Season 2, he can’t face the truth about his family alone. Who better to aid him in the pursuit of this knowledge than his siblings, especially when it’s the entire Shaw family’s reputation that’s at stake? Yes, Russell and Dory are both confirmed to return on “Tracker” this season, but we’re hoping they’ll finally appear together.
