- Pixel Federation built a 15-metre model train diorama
- Players voted on station designs, and figurine placement, among other things
- The developer plans to use the player input as inspiration for TrainStation 3
As a dedicated TrainStation player with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Pixel Federation has truly outdone themselves! The creation of a 15-meter model train diorama, inspired by our very own community, is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s like stepping into the game itself and feeling the raw passion that the developers have for their work.
Recently, game developer Pixel Federation finished constructing a physical model (diorama) that draws inspiration from feedback given by TrainStation 2 gamers. Skillfully crafted by professionals, this diorama has also influenced the development of the upcoming game, TrainStation 3. During the creation process, Pixel Federation aimed to acquire a greater insight into their players’ preferences and passions. With this newfound understanding, the developer plans to produce more captivating content that matches player predictions for an enjoyable gaming experience.
During the entirety of the project, the development team strived to provide players with a tangible, real-world item. Since many individuals within Pixel Federation are passionate about model trains, constructing a physical diorama became an intuitive means to enhance user interaction.
As reported by the development team, it took a full year to finish the project, and the game’s community played an active role at every stage. Players had their say on various aspects like bridge and station designs, train unboxing locations, figurine placement for citizens, and which geographical regions should be incorporated. For a whole year, Pixel Federation kept the players informed about the progress through its TrainStation Diorama YouTube Channel.
The primary hurdle faced by the diorama’s creators was transporting the entire project from Prague, where it was constructed, to the Pixel Federation game studio in Bratislava. To accomplish this, they meticulously dismantled it into three separate parts and then put it back together in the studio.
The development team intends to keep learning from their players, using their feedback to improve TrainStation 3 as it approaches launch. They view their players as essential collaborators in the creation process.
In simple terms, TrainStation 2 is a mobile game where you build railway tracks and run a worldwide railroad empire. You can acquire and enhance various train models, manage your railways, and make strategic adjustments to your railroads to meet different needs.
