Treyarch goes hard on round-based Zombies amidst Outbreak return rumours

As a seasoned Call of Duty gamer with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the news about Black Ops 6 focusing solely on Round-Based Zombies has filled me with an uncontainable excitement! Four long years without the signature zombie mode from Treyarch was a tough pill to swallow, but it seems our patience is finally paying off.

For four years now, it’s been a while since Treyarch’s unique Zombies mode last appeared in the Call of Duty series, even though there have been instances of undead action in both Vanguard and Modern Warfare 3.

In this version, the developer has become highly skilled at designing “round-based” Zombie modes, a key feature that is unique to the Black Oops and World at War series.

As a diehard fan, I’m thrilled to share that following the longest break since their last Zombies map releases, Treyarch has promised to dedicate all their efforts exclusively to this game mode throughout Black Ops 6. Can’t wait to see what they have in store!

Treyarch commits to a full year of round-based Zombies only

Treyarch has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will solely feature Round-Based Zombie gameplay content, with additional maps being added post-launch to advance the storyline across various seasons during the game’s live operations.

Treyarch hasn’t limited their approach to reanimating the undead to just Round-Based Zombies; they’ve also introduced modes such as Outbreak, the expansive open-world Modern Warfare Z, and whatever can be deciphered from Vanguard.

However, while there are whispers that Treyarch may shift attention back to Outbreak, they’ve made it clear that “Black Ops 6 is dedicated solely to delivering Round-Based Zombies content.”

In addition to the locations of Terminus and Liberty Falls, Black Ops 6 is expected to unveil additional maps within its seasonal content. This narrative will further unfold the story, with the famous character, Edward Richtofen, taking center stage as the primary villain.

Outbreak 2.0 rumoured for 2025 release

RUMOR: Outbreak is returning in the next call of duty game (likely black ops 7) on Avalon.

In essence, it appears that Outbreak won’t be making an appearance this year, contrary to its widespread appeal. Yet, whispers circulated prior to Treyarch’s announcement that Outbreak is indeed under production and set to grace the forthcoming Warzone map, Avalon.

As a lifelong gamer with a soft spot for the Call of Duty series, I must admit that I am quite disappointed by the news about Avalon’s release date being pushed back to November 2025. With Treyarch’s Black Ops 6 battle royale map set to be Verdansk, it seems like I will have to wait a long time before getting my hands on the much-anticipated Avalon. As someone who has spent countless hours playing and replaying Call of Duty games, this delay is certainly a blow to my gaming schedule. However, I am still hopeful that the developers will deliver an exceptional experience once Avalon finally hits the shelves. In the meantime, I’ll keep myself busy with other games and eagerly await any updates or sneak peeks about Avalon’s development process.

Similar to how Modern Warfare has sequential releases (known as a double-header), there’s a strong indication that Call of Duty: Black Ops is following suit, implying that a second Black Oops game in the series might be coming up next, with a game focused on Black Ops 2 possibly being released for its second year.

If not, it might be that Outbreak and Avalon are temporarily paused until Treyarch creates the next installment of Call of Duty, following the turns taken by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games to have their own annual releases. So, it could get a bit complex.

Currently, we’re in for a continuous sequence of 12 months filled with one action-packed wave of zombie attacks following another. Hordes upon hordes are coming at us, but it appears our persistence is finally bearing fruit. So, let’s savor the moment!
