As a seasoned Call of Duty: Zombies enthusiast with countless hours spent deciphering Easter eggs and battling hordes of the undead, I eagerly anticipate the “beast” of an Easter egg quest that awaits me on Terminus. Having experienced the labyrinthine puzzles of Der Eisendrache, Moon, and Mob of the Dead, I’m ready to embark on another epic journey through the sprawling map of Black Ops 6’s latest offering.
In relation to Treyarch’s unique style on Call of Duty Zombies map design, the community commonly highlights the way the Easter egg unfolds as the key characteristic.
Historically, maps are renowned for their intricate Easter egg hunts, with notable examples like the Moon, Der Eisendrache, and Mob of the Dead being celebrated for offering gaming experiences that transcend typical shooter games.
Black Ops 6’s Terminus map aims to strengthen its position in the Zombies Easter egg ranking, as Treyarch hints that the forthcoming level will feature an arduous mission, though not as challenging as that of Revelations.
Terminus will have a ‘beast’ of an Easter egg quest
The map known as Terminus is reportedly the largest ever for the game Zombies, boasting a vast expanse. Notably, the primary island isn’t alone anymore; it’s connected to other nearby regions which can be reached by boat. However, don’t let that water fool you, it’s not the sanctuary you might assume.
Stepping into this game as a player, I’m excited to uncover some mind-blowing secrets! According to Senior Lead Designer Anthony Saunders, he’s crafted one of the most intricate Easter egg hunts yet. This quest will lead us deep into the heart of the main prison and across the treacherous Vietnamese islands that surround it. The clues are skillfully hidden, and I can hardly wait to piece together this puzzle!
In a recent reveal, Saunders said, “It’s a beast of a main quest…It will use the ocean, it will use the islands, it’ll use every part of the map, and it’s one of the biggest maps yet.”
Treyarch has learned from past revelations
During our visit to Treyarch, something important we neglected to discuss about the main quest is that, in contrast to the intricate puzzle-solving of Revelations’ EE hunt, they clarified there won’t be any “secret ladder” type obstacles in the main storyline this time around, due to the community’s struggle with it back then.

Among the most challenging Easter eggs found in the game Zombies, the one from Revelations is particularly notorious, frequently referred to as the most frustrating due to its complexity. During the period of Black Ops III, the gaming community was collectively stumped while trying to crack this enigma.
Players meticulously explored each inch of the map, uncovering secret boulders that challenged the perseverance of puzzle enthusiasts, as opposed to sifting through every grain of sand with the expectation of unearthing a mere pebble.
On this occasion, even though it’s massive, Treyarch assured content creators that they wouldn’t include steps as excessively challenging as this one, although completing the Easter egg won’t happen instantly. The Guided mode for Terminus is set to be released at a later date after players successfully solve the Easter egg for the first time. This mode will lead us through the intricate side mission step by step.
