2024 saw Dr. Martens presenting an impressive array of collaborations, teaming up not just once, but twice with Rick Owens, also joining forces with Supreme, The Great Frog, and the leather-focused collective Nine Inch Nails. The latest addition to this lineup is a striking collaboration with Kunichi Nomura’s TRIPSTER for a luminescent version of the Leather Oxford Shoe.
Nomura explains that there are instances when everyone needs to shine in their unique way. “In a dimly lit setting, on a walk home after a night out, or lying on the dance floor of a club after five drinks,” he says. Previously, we’ve designed suits, trench coats, and sneakers, but I’ve been yearning to create an elegant ensemble that transitions seamlessly between day and night – a complete coordinated look from head to toe.
With this idea in focus, Nomura personally spearheaded the project and incorporated a glowing design into the three-vented TRIPSTER x Dr. Martens leather shoe. The shoe rests on a luminescent rubber base.
