As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours navigating the competitive landscape of business and entertainment, I find it intriguing to see a familiar face like Tilman Fertitta being nominated for such a prestigious position. His journey from hosting CNBC’s Billion Dollar Buyer to potentially becoming the U.S. ambassador to Italy is nothing short of impressive.
Donald Trump plans to appoint Tilman Fertitta, the presenter of CNBC’s “Billion Dollar Buyer” and proprietor of the Houston Rockets, as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy.
In the series titled “Billion Dollar Buyer“, we follow Fertitta, who is not only the CEO of Landry’s restaurant group, but also a man on a mission to discover innovative hospitality products across the country. These small business owners compete to catch Fertitta’s attention in hopes of securing a partnership with Landry’s. The show premiered in 2016 and ended its run in 2018.
Landry’s collection encompasses establishments such as Morton’s The Steakhouse, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and The Chart House, along with several other restaurants.
Trump posted on Truth Social that Tilman is a successful entrepreneur who established and grew one of our nation’s leading entertainment and property firms, providing jobs for around 50,000 U.S citizens. Throughout the years, Tilman has shown his commitment to giving back through various charitable endeavors, such as supporting children’s organizations, law enforcement agencies, and healthcare institutions.
On X, formerly Twitter, Fertitta wrote that the nomination was “an absolute honor.”
Besides being a co-owner of the Houston Rockets basketball team, Fertitta is also the proprietor of the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos chain. In the year 2011, he acquired the Atlantic City location of the Golden Nugget from Trump Entertainment Resorts; prior to this purchase, it was known as the Trump Marina casino.
