`Twisted Metal Season 2: A Wild Ride Awaits`

In simpler terms, one might contend that “The Last of Us” Season 2 is the most thrilling upcoming video game adaptation slated for the 2025 TV lineup. However, if you’re someone who prefers post-apocalyptic landscapes with brighter skies, fast-paced vehicle action, and a dash of humor, then it’s “Twisted Metal” Season 2 that holds the spotlight. In the upcoming Peacock series, Anthony Mackie as John and Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet will encounter even more intense and potentially dangerous chaos when the show returns. This chaos is personified by characters like Calypso and Mr. Grimm, among others.

The initial trailer for Season 2 unveils the debut of Calypso, the organizer of the Twisted Metal tournament, who is played by both Barry and Anthony Carrigan in live-action. This supernatural wish-granter also makes an appearance. Furthermore, it fulfills the reference from Season 1’s finale about motorcycle lover Mr. Grimm and his distinctive group, as shown in the trailer below. Keep reading for additional information.

Anthony Carrigan’s Calypso Is A Haunting Weirdo, And I Love It

Since the trailer isn’t extensive, featuring an official release date, or fully packed with episodes, the footage displayed is relatively small. Instead, it primarily serves to introduce both recurring and new characters, offering viewers a comprehensive look at who they can anticipate seeing. It’s logical that they would conclude this preview with a glimpse of the character Calypso, whose hair is as dark as raven feathers.

Anthony Carrigan is recognized for infusing his subtle charm into mostly bald villains like No-Ho Hank in HBO’s “Barry”. However, he sports a dark mane to fit the gaming aesthetic of Calypso, which gives him an intriguing appearance. He seems like a magician who migrated from the “Castlevania” game, and I say that affectionately.

Looks Like Live-Action Mr. Grimm Will Be A Mortal Version

In the video games, the leader of the motorcycle gang, Mr. Grimm, has multiple backstories. He originally appears as a grim reaper-like character without flames and chains, similar to Ghost Rider. Over time, his appearance transformed into that of an undead biker, then a pirate (though we’ll overlook that period), then a traumatized soldier, and finally the son of a deceased stuntman who seeks to resurrect his father. This offers showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith a diverse range of narrative elements to work with.

Given that Mr. Grimm’s TV persona sports a helmet adorned with a skull design, it seems reasonable to infer that there’s likely a human being beneath the visor, despite our lack of direct knowledge about his identity. However, if the helmet conceals nothing but bare skull bones, he might need to wear it regardless for the sake of preventing curious onlookers from inquiring about the mysterious disappearance of his scalp.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse into more about John Doe’s sister, known as Dollface in the game world. At present, her character remains largely undisclosed, but she shares a connection with Anthony Mackie’s character. She heads up a band of masked tough individuals and will likely pose challenges for both John and Quiet during the Calypso tournament. However, it’s expected that she may eventually aid them in some capacity.

Twisted Metal Season 2 is expected to roll out during Summer 2025 for viewers who have Peacock subscriptions, so don’t forget to service your car before the journey and ponder deeply about your deepest desires, as Calypso might just grant them in a “Monkey’s Paw” manner.
