To put it straight from the heart, I’m head over heels for the Two Point series! From the moment I stepped into the world of Two Point Hospital and later Two Point Campus, I’ve been captivated. The way they’ve reinvented the gameplay mechanics in each installment has kept me thoroughly entertained throughout my journey with this fantastic franchise.
Initially, I had some concerns that the third installment might become repetitive, but Two Point Museum stood out as one of my favorites during Gamescom 2024, and I would have gladly spent numerous days immersed in it.
Exhibit A
In my gaming adventure, I find myself tasked once more with breathing new life into an establishment in need. This time, instead of a hospital or a campus, it’s a museum that’s lost its sparkle. It’s up to me to step in and restore its former glory, making it a beacon for knowledge and culture once again.
About half of the displays are stolen, the entire facility could use some tidying, and the previous curator seems to have vanished without a trace. It’s starting to look like another day at Two Point, but the revamped Exhibitions setup is introducing quite a change in the usual routine.
Rather than setting up a new medical facility or refurbishing a classroom swiftly, the process of acquiring and preserving historical artifacts is more labor-intensive, requiring dedicated effort from your team.
In my gaming world, I take on the role of an archaeologist recruited by a unique museum. Instead of desk jobs, we’re equipped with gear and whisked away by helicopter on thrilling expeditions to uncover ancient treasures buried deep in history. The adventures are exciting but lengthy, leaving me away from the team temporarily. There’s always a dash of danger, like falling into tar pits that can leave me immobilized for a while, necessitating some downtime for recovery.
Brushing up on your history
Every triumphant voyage will yield a fresh artifact for your museum’s collection, and unveil more locations to explore like the daring archaeologist from Indiana Jones. However, you may occasionally disregard safety protocols for a swift, yet perilous, discovery.
However, it’s not just about putting up these exhibitions; you’ll also need to enhance their surroundings, making them more appealing and eye-catching until the entire town is eager to witness the ancient statue of a floppy disk. Maintenance is crucial too, as your Historical Experts will have to regularly clean and polish these exhibits to keep them pristine, subtly encouraging visitors to donate.
The blend of Two Point fundamentals, such as hiring janitorial staff, receptionists, and others, seamlessly integrates into the overall experience, giving it a warm, franchise-like feel. Plus, let me tell you, the Two Point Radio DJs are making a comeback – I had quite a few laughs with Sir Nigel Bickleworth, and the witty intercom announcer is back as well, adding humor to the mix.
Final Thoughts
Similar to Two Point Campus, Two Point Studios has skillfully adapted their formula to suit the Museum setting. Already, I find myself anticipating those irresistible instances where I say, “I’ll just build one more exhibit.”
